Kongo Vintage Pop-Up is a cultural and creative event taking place on June 26, 2026 at , Lubumbashi, in partnership with

It is a hybrid space blending local fashion, urban gastronomy, and interactive experiences, designed as a place for connection, expression, and the promotion of local talent.

The event aims to create a vibrant, inclusive, and accessible atmosphere, where different forms of Congolese creativity meet through exchange, consumption, and sharing.

Kongo Vintage Pop-Up est un événement culturel et créatif qui se tiendra le 26 juin 2026 à , Lubumbashi, en collaboration avec

Il s’agit d’un espace hybride mêlant mode locale, gastronomie urbaine et expériences ludiques, pensé comme un lieu de rencontre, d’expression et de valorisation des talents locaux.

L’événement ambitionne de créer une atmosphère vivante, inclusive et accessible, où différentes formes de créativité congolaise se rencontrent à travers l’échange, la consommation et le partage.

Fela Kútì (1938–1997) était un musicien et militant politique nigérian. Fondateur de l’Afrobeat, il a mêlé rythmes ouest-africains, funk et jazz pour créer une musique engagée et révolutionnaire.

Artiste charismatique et provocateur, il dénonçait les régimes militaires nigérians, devenant une cible constante du pouvoir.

Fils de la militante féministe Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, il crée en 1970 la République de Kalakuta, une commune autoproclamée indépendante, détruite lors d’un raid militaire en 1978 où sa mère fut mortellement blessée.

Emprisonné en 1984, il poursuit sa carrière jusqu’à sa mort en 1997. Son héritage musical est aujourd’hui préservé par son fils.

À jamais dans nos cœurs, pour toujours dans nos mémoires.

Fela Kuti (born Olufela Ransome-Kuti; Oct 15, 1938 – Aug 2, 1997) was a Nigerian musician and political activist. He’s known as the pioneer of Afrobeat, blending West African rhythms with American funk and jazz.

Son of women’s rights icon Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, he and his band Africa ‘70 (with drummer Tony Allen) rose to fame in the 1970s, as he openly criticized Nigeria’s military regimes.

In 1970, he created the Kalakuta Republic, a commune that declared independence from the state. It was violently destroyed in 1978.

Jailed in 1984, he kept recording and performing until his death. His music lives on, curated by his son.

Premier Premier ministre du Congo indépendant, figure majeure du panafricanisme et du nationalisme africain. ✊🏾

Peu après l’indépendance en juin 1960, une mutinerie éclate dans l’armée : c’est le début de la crise congolaise. Après un coup d’État, Lumumba tente de rejoindre Stanleyville, où ses partisans ont proclamé la République libre du Congo. Il est capturé par les forces de Mobutu, transféré au Katanga, puis torturé et exécuté avec la complicité de mercenaires belges et du régime de Moïse Tshombe.

📍 En 2002, la Belgique a reconnu sa responsabilité morale.
🦷 En 2022, une relique symbolique – une dent – a été restituée à sa famille.

Aujourd’hui, Lumumba reste un martyr du panafricanisme, une voix éternelle pour la justice et la liberté.

Shortly after Congo gained independence in June 1960, a mutiny erupted within the army — marking the start of the Congo Crisis. Following a coup, Lumumba tried to reach Stanleyville, where his supporters had declared the Free Republic of the Congo. He was captured by Mobutu’s forces, transferred to Katanga, and executed by Moïse Tshombe’s separatist regime with the help of Belgian mercenaries.

📍 In 2002, Belgium formally admitted moral responsibility.
🦷 In 2022, they returned Lumumba’s tooth to his family — the only known remains.

Today, Lumumba stands as a martyr of the Pan-African movement, a symbol of dignity, justice, and resistance.
