The Lost Art of Wearing Lipstick — Part 4 💄

My mom had an appointment today. A shot in her eye.

She’s 84, and she is so damn brave.

Before we walked in, I put on my lipstick.

Nobody asked me to.
Nobody needed me to.
Nobody probably even noticed.

But I did.

And somewhere between the parking lot and that waiting room, I realized that’s what this series is really about.

Not the lipstick.

The quiet, stubborn act of showing up for yourself anyway.

Even on the hard days.

Maybe especially on the hard days. 💛

Maybe we’ve been asking ourselves the wrong question.

For years, mine was “How do I look younger?”

Somewhere along the way, I realized the question kept me chasing a version of myself I couldn’t go back to. So I started asking a different one…

“How do I look the healthiest, happiest version of me today?”

That shift changed the way I think about makeup.
It changed the way I get dressed.
It even changed the way I look in the mirror.

And honestly? I feel a whole lot lighter.

✨ I’m Trish, a Southern teacher who believes women over 50 deserve to feel beautiful without chasing 30.

💄 I’m obsessed with simple makeup, effortless style, and the little things that make ordinary days feel special (yes… even lipstick for a Monday).

I honestly believed more concealer meant more coverage.

Instead…

It meant more settling.
More creasing.
And somehow my under eyes looked even older.

The biggest change I made?

Using LESS.

Just a tiny amount, warmed between my ring fingers and gently pressed into the skin.

Sometimes the answer isn’t adding more.

It’s adding less.

Some mornings I don’t want to build an outfit—I just want to get dressed and know I’ll feel good. 💗

Simple jeans, a soft pink tee, comfortable shoes, and I’m out the door.

Turns out a hot pink tennis skirt can improve your mood. 💗🎾

This Amazon skirt was such a good find, and I paired it with my favorite grey Athleta tank.

Now if someone could teach me to actually play tennis… 😂

Concealer Series: Part 1 💛

Can we have a little under-eye intervention? 😅

If your dark circles are still peeking through after concealer, it’s probably not your concealer’s fault.
It’s the order.

Purple doesn’t disappear just because we put a skin-colored concealer on top of it.
It needs a color corrector first.

✨ Peach = lighter dark circles
✨ Orange = deeper dark circles

Then your concealer actually gets to do its job.
Who knew a little color theory could save us from buying our 47th concealer? 😂
