From the stage to the screen, is proving that great storytelling knows no medium.

Warner has become one of pop’s most compelling new voices by turning deeply personal experiences into diaristic songs that pulse with gritty guitars, punchy drums, and emotional honesty. But with her television debut in ’ upcoming ‘ ,’ she’s discovering a new way to tell stories. While songwriting allows her to unpack her own experiences, acting invites her to step inside someone else’s, bringing outside emotions to life with the same vulnerability that defines her music.

For Anna Van Patten, the unexpected has become a way forward.

With her recent breakout performance as Kitty in the third season of ‘ ,’ the actor is carving out a career that leaves room for instinct, curiosity, and the unexpected. Months before she landed the role, Van Patten had already begun taking pole dancing lessons—a practice that unexpectedly became her way into Kitty once she was cast. ‘It made me more comfortable in my body,’ she tells V. ‘It gave me permission to take up space.’

Style was her first language. Long before image became currency, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy understood its power. "It goes to show the level of taste she had because of how quickly she rose at Calvin Klein," reflects. For her, portraying Bessette-Kennedy meant embodying not just a wardrobe, but the subtle confidence that made her unforgettable.

For V161 cover star Sarah Pidgeon, success hasn't quieted the questions—it has only made them louder. As new opportunities emerge and the future begins to take shape, the actor is embracing the uncertainty of becoming, one role at a time

“The itchiness I feel is from asking myself more and more, what type of artist do I want to be? What avenue of character acting do I want to explore? You don’t always have the answers. I know I have certain tastes and things I gravitate towards that I can’t even put into words,” she explains. “So, asking myself this unanswerable question, what do I want to do and what do I want to be, feels very ephemeral to me. It’s like trying to define where I’m at now, while also not having any perspective on what this moment is, or this turning point in my life.”

The irony isn't lost on her: the role that made V161 cover star Sarah Pidgeon a breakout star explored the complexities of public scrutiny, with only for life to imitate art in the months that followed. As audiences fell in love with ‘Love Story,’ the actor found herself navigating a new reality of visibility, expectation, and constant observation.

“It was a whirlwind of a summer for so many reasons,” she explains in our new 2026 Fall Preview issue. “Life and art sort of folded in on each other. I felt in many moments like, well, my life is so different from Carolyn [Bessette]’s, and portraying someone on TV is very different from having a lived experience of existing in New York. There were a lot of moments where I felt my central nervous system firing in a way that I would imagine hers did as well, despite the scenarios being different. I think in terms of reckoning with a sense of public perception, it is a strange thing for any of us to feel like we’re being perceived, and I don’t even particularly enjoy watching what I’ve done.”

With newfound attention comes newfound opportunity—but for V161 cover star Sarah Pidgeon, success hasn't changed the work.

“The belief I had before entering the industry, trying to access it while I was studying in school, has remained the same, but it’s become more nuanced: if I do good work with good people, then I’ll be happy, and my career will inevitably lead to the next thing,” she explains to V’s . “Now, there are so many parts at play. With the good fortune of being in a resonant project a lot of people have seen, there is more opportunity, and I am so grateful for that. It’s only been a couple of months. I certainly still feel like I have to fight for jobs.”

With so little to reference, every choice became an act of interpretation. built her version of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy from fragments, photos, paparazzi footage, the way bodies move when they’re being hunted.

One question kept returning: “Am I doing it right?” Playing someone so self-possessed required a kind of confidence she had to summon just to make choices about someone so unknowable. Certainty born from scarcity.

Before starring in Ryan Murphy’s culturally inescapable ‘Love Story,’ Sarah Pidgeon was already an acclaimed actress, with television roles, films, and even a Tony Award nomination to her name. But her portrayal of beloved ’90s icon Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy has propelled her into a new realm of visibility. It’s a particularly intriguing turn, given that Bessette-Kennedy spent much of her final years trying to protect her privacy from the relentless media attention surrounding both herself and her husband, John F. Kennedy Jr., one of the most famous men in the world.

As she steps into a new chapter of her career, the actor chats with V’s Mathias Rosenzweig about how her career has launched her into the public eye—the very thing her breakout role explored & scrutinized.

SUDDENLY, SARAH—Introducing our final cover star for V161: Sarah Pidgeon!

With her Emmy-nominated performance in the hit series ‘Love Story,’ the actor found herself thrust into the very spotlight her character was tasked with navigating. Now, as her star continues to rise, she reflects on the realities of fame, visibility, and the scrutiny that comes with becoming one of Hollywood’s most-watched new talents. Photographed by Luigi & Iango and styled by Arut Arustamyan, the actor sits down with V’s Mathias Rosenzweig to discuss filming under the watchful eye of New York City, learning to be both photographed and perceived, and why a career in Hollywood can often feel like one gamble after another.
