Inspired by one of the most iconic works in the history of ukiyo-e : The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Katsushika Hokusai.
Created around 1831 during Japan’s Edo period, The Great Wave is part of Hokusai’s legendary Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, a series that transformed Japanese printmaking through its striking compositions and bold use of Prussian blue. 🌊
Its fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics with Western perspective would go on to influence artists far beyond Japan, becoming one of the most recognizable and reproduced images in art history.
Now, it becomes the inspiration for Half Sumo’s homage to an unforgettable masterpiece.
The reveals begin this week.
