I made this hiring mistake when I first started my company.
It cost me a lot of time and money. Learn from my mistakes.

If you're an entrepreneur and building your business, you're working on 9 different roles at the same time. When you decide to hire someone to save yourself time and bandwidth, do your research.

For example: If you're running a small business and doing sales as a part of your daily role, you might need to hire a Director of Sales. If you hire that sales person and have them replicate what you were doing, they will be underutilized. You were allocating maybe 10% of your time to sales and if that new hire is replicating only what you were doing they are most probably only going to be utilizing less than 50% of their capacity.

Research the jobs that you are hiring for, understand what a full time position looks like and how much value they can bring to the company.

Just hiring folks to fill-in the gaps and not utilizing them to their max potential is the fastest way to lose money, time, and good employees.
