Dear parents as the year winds down, take out 20mins to ask your children these questions individually.

Please this is not another lecture or correction session, itโ€™s a time to bond and connect with them.

While at it,share your own answers first, vulnerability is contagious. If you share mistakes you made, theyโ€™ll feel safer sharing theirs.

This exercise will help them start the year stronger.

HOME IS NOT WALLS OR POSSESSIONS, HOME IS AN ATMOSPHERE, A FEELING, A MEMORY THAT SETTLES IN THE HEART.

Are they happy they are closing for holidays?

What does home mean to your child?

Are they excited to come home for the holidays or do they find excuses to visit their aunts, cousins, or grandparents instead?

Do they yearn to spend time with you or do they quietly count down the days until they can leave again?

Sometimes the home we think is safe... isn't

Some homes are full of food but empty of peace.

Full of rules but empty of gentleness.

Full of prayer but lacking emotional connection

Children remember the tone of your voice more than the words you said.

They remember how you made them feel after they failed an exam, after they spilled something, after they disappointed you.
They remember whether your arms felt safe or your silence felt cold.

Ask yourself, honestly:

Does my child feel safe to tell me when they're sad or do they hide their pain to avoid my reaction?

Do they open up about their mistakes or do they lie out of fear?

Do they feel seen in this home - or just managed?

Do they rush home or find reasons to stay away?

Sometimes the emotional climate of our homes is what pushes our children out - not rebellion.

They leave not because they hate you, but because their soul can't rest where it feels constantly judged or unseen.

Home should be a soft place to land.

A place where mistakes aren't punished with shame but guided with grace.

A place where laughter lives louder than criticism.

Where correction comes with connection.

Where presence speaks louder than provision.

Because long after they outgrow your lap, they'll still crave the peace your home gave them โ€“ or spend years healing from what it didn't.

So today, ask yourself:

"What does home feel like to my child?"

If they describe it as peaceful, safe, and warm , then youโ€™re raising from love.

If they describe it as tense, harsh, or distant itโ€™s not too late to rebuild.

You don't need to be a perfect parent.

You just need to be a present one.

Consistent. Safe. Soft when needed. Firm when necessary.

Because home isn't where your child lives โ€” it's where their heart rests.

What's that one thing you need to adjust to make your home, the home for your childโ€™s peace, safety and love?

Simple, natural ways a parent can help support their childโ€™s immune system.

1-LET THEM SLEEP WELL
Children need good, long sleep for their bodies to
repair and stay strong.
When children rest, their bodies repair cells and
build stronger immunity

To help your child sleep better,
create a bedtime routine;sleeping at the same
time each day,no screens 1 hour before bedtime,
avoid heavy meals or sugary snacks before bed,
keep the room cool and dark to help their bodies
relax, encourage bathing before bedtime.

2-MAKE SURE THEY DRINK WATER
Staying hydrated helps the body fight germs.

Make drinking water fun for them; it could be by
using their favorite water bottle or adding a few
slices of lemon to their water.

Fruits like watermelon and oranges also help
keep children hydrated.
Encourage your children to sip water throughout
the day.

3-WHOLE FOODS NOT TOO MANY SUGARS
Too much sugar can make the immune system
slow, it weakens the bodyโ€™s natural defenses.
It can reduce how well white blood cells fight
infections.

Offer healthy snacks, fruits and nuts in place
of sugary snacks.

4- TEACH YOUR CHILDREN HAND WASHING
Simple soap and water washing after visiting the
toilet, before eating and after playing protects
them.

5- INCLUDE HEALTHY PROTEINS
Eggs, beans, chicken, Fish and nuts help the
body grow strong cells.Equally include foods
rich in vitamin C

6-GIVE LOTS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Especially the colorful ones like orange,
paw-paw,watermelon, carrots. Make their meals
colorful.
