Looking for inspiration through an artful lens? Then this book is a perfect companion.

I’ve followed Katy Hessel’s work for years — listening to The Great Women Artists podcast and reading her wonderful 2022 publication The Story of Art Without Men, which celebrates the often-overlooked contributions of women artists throughout history.

Now, thanks to the sweetest gift from my dear friend and remarkable artist Aziya, I’m enjoying How to Live an Artful Life — a thoughtful daily read filled with stories, reflections and insights from women artists. Informative, inspiring and endlessly enriching, it’s the kind of book that nourishes slow summer days.

Port of Stars: Inspirations

Port of Stars, inspired by two separate entities, the nautical terms for Port and starboard evoking adventure and a quest to invoke an ethereal vision of harbouring and protecting our consolations.”

The spiral reminds us that life is rarely linear. We return to familiar places, but never as the same person. With every turn we gather new stories, softer edges, quieter wisdom.

It is the shape of seashells and galaxies, of unfurling ferns and gentle tides. A symbol of becoming rather than arriving, of trusting the slow unfolding, of finding beauty in every season of change.

Perhaps that is all we are ever meant to do: move gently forward, carrying every version of ourselves into the next.

What’s in my bag: Leila Edition

Our Social Media Strategist Leila carries more than just everyday essentials—she carries inspiration wherever she goes.

Believing that almost anything and anyone can spark a new idea, there’s always a journal, a diary, and an assortment of pens tucked away in her bag, ready for every passing thought. Reading isn’t simply a habit for Leila—it’s a daily ritual. You’ll never find her without at least one book, no matter where she’s headed.

During the warmer months, her Céline sunglasses and a handheld fan are absolute essentials. While she rarely wears makeup, she never leaves home without her beloved Multi-Líčidlo—a versatile product she loves for its ability to do more with less, reflecting her appreciation for beautifully functional objects. Another constant companion is her Olympus film camera. Ever since buying it a few years ago, it’s been by her side, capturing everyday moments on analog film and preserving memories in a slower, more intentional way.

The final non-negotiables? A refreshing body mist and a nourishing hand cream.

From quiet moments in the studio to little things that catch our eye, we’re slowly collecting ideas and dreaming of what’s ahead. Looking forward to warmer days, long evenings, new energy, and all the beauty the season has to offer.

Port of Stars: Book Club - June edition

We’re so excited to finally bring you our very own book club — and there felt like no better book to begin with than Perfection by Vincenzo Latronico. It’s the kind of book that quietly settles under your skin and stays there long after you finish it.

Reading it made me feel strangely seen and strangely empty at the same time. Like standing in a beautiful apartment after the party is over — everything still perfect, but with this quiet loneliness lingering underneath it.

It captures a feeling I don’t think I’ve ever seen written so precisely: the exhaustion of curating a life that looks meaningful while slowly drifting away from yourself inside it. I highlighted so many passages not because they were dramatic, but because they felt uncomfortably true.

Such a subtle, cold, and beautiful book — one that continues to echo in my mind even after the last page.

What’s in my bag: Jana

Jana, always on the run, carries only her main essentials — oversized shades, Dior touch-ups, fabric swatches, perfume, keys, and a little chaos wrapped in cream canvas.

The things we carry every day slowly become little extensions of us — the perfume we reach for, the receipts we keep, the lip gloss at the bottom of the bag, the sketches folded between everything else. Tiny objects and soft routines slowly become pieces of who we are.
