Have you ever noticed the reoccurring theme when Valentine's day rolls around? First comes: "Oh it's not a real holiday anyway! A Hallmark cards scam! Where flower vendors and candy merchants rake in the dough!" Well ...there's actually a lot of truth in all of that! But after all the bitching and complaining ... we still give into the pressure and go out and do it! For this reason ... I thought it a good theme for a song!

Here's the new improved "Gentile Family Xmas Playlist!" It includes traditional and original Xmas songs/music performed by the Gentile family! (Alma, Lara, Tina, Daniel, and me) It's a good collection with lots of heartfelt Xmas spirit built in for many decades now. I'll be posting this again occasionally before Xmas. With Thanksgiving now over, the Christmas preparations begin! (officially in America in any case!)

For me, Christmas was always the music. Enchanted as a child by the traditional Christmas tunes, I went on to compose my own Christmas tunes, which (to my joy) became a part of Christmas for so many of my friends, all the wonderful people who participated in my plays (Mr. Grumph!) and certainly to my children, who simply thought my songs were a normal part of Christmas! An old friend of mine even taught them in the West Haven school system many years back!

I decided this year to FINALLY remaster and make quintessential versions of some of my most popular Christmas tunes! “Hear the sound” … “Before they finish Christmas” … “A happy song” … and my Carol to Sandy Hook … “We won’t forget on Christmas:”

I will slowly post these now, along with the many other traditional (and some nontraditional) Christmas songs I have recorded over the many Christmases of yore! Perhaps if you enjoy them, you will do me the favor of sharing them and hopefully spreading the Christmas spirit in music. They are really very simple songs … childish actually … (My song “A happy Song” was probably one of the first 5 songs I ever wrote … back when I was 15!)

Anyway … my hope is to maybe capture a bit of that childhood magic … which still exists … and lives on in us all in the hope of love, charity and peace on earth.

Plan A we were born with or inherited. Study, college, get married, children, retire ... or another variation brought on by parents with a plan for what you should do or become. Eventually, we realize we have to find our plan B ... which has more to do with how we see our own life and future ... and that the older we get ... the more we should count our blessings for what they are.
