Well… apparently, we’re not sustainable anymore. 🤔😌😉
At least, we can no longer simply call ourselves that under the new EU rules.
And here’s the thing: the intention behind EmpCo is important. Greenwashing is a real problem. Broad environmental claims without anything behind them should absolutely be challenged.
But what happens to the small brands that have spent years trying to do things differently?
The ones developing their own materials.
Building traceable supply chains.
Knowing who makes their clothes — and where.
Visiting their production partners.
Rethinking products and components from scratch.
For small brands, proving every broad claim in exactly the required way — including through certain certifications — can come with costs and requirements that are simply difficult to carry.
So while the regulation is meant to silence greenwashing, we worry it might silence some of the brands trying hardest to change things, too.
Look at what we do.
And make up your own mind.
