It feels like a year I've gotten absolutely nothing done- and I missed it so much.

Starting slow back into it with slapping some purple flames on these New Rocks! Boots thrifted, and the flames are scrap leather. That's footwear sorted; I still have to do my bazillion sewing projects and the 2023 leather jacket!

Speaking of new and exciting things! I was able to sn**ch this red leather jacket & I ALSO caught something at every show this year so far. I only have Iron Maiden left and then Judas Priest next year.
(Did I say I caught? I guess I'd like to thank BOTH the bands who tried to throw me stuff several times AND the security guys who picked them up for me when I still missed by an inch every time...)

I'm thinking I'm gonna stud this thing and then paint it with a little something for every show I actually go to. Like in order of seeing them, so it'll be full of great memories!

Let's see how long it takes to fill up, and how bad I will be at painting a Somewhere in Time cyborg Eddie on the back. Stay tuned for that, and taking bets after how many attempts I will give up and buy a printed back patch to cover up my mistakes.

I DO have an idea for the guitar picks and really want them on here, but you best believe I will test that with some cheap ones off Amazon before touching these. I'm just not sure yet how to bolt those drum sticks on there... if anyone has an idea I'm all ears? :P More of you guys need to take my money and sell pins or patches and not just shirts at shows!

Here's me wearing the jacket I studded/patched and pants I made from scratch to in Berlin & Hamburg. Top by ... my pattern I kept posting about didn't work out in the end. But next time I'll get there!

Happy New Year!

Its been *checks notes* half a year or so since I disappeared to just quickly finish my degree.
Well, that's still in the works, but I have and / tickets for the summer, so BACK to sewing some nice stuff for when there's an excuse to wear it. Still hoping for some shows for summer in Europe too!

I snapped up this blue leo fabric in both scuba and stretch velvet - this is actually really close to the stuff my young impressionable self saw on a stage on someone years ago that made me want to go buy a guitar, learn to play it, grab a pair of those pants & live my rockstar dreams. Due to being chronically untalented, best I can do is sew... but at least that means maybe one of you will do it and waste less time figuring out the how to put pockets in spandex part yourself 😉

So, here's the "Big things coming with a side of self depreciation" start of a new year post... stay tuned for hopefully new cool stuff rather soon. I did finish the drawing, but this time I'll finish the old stuff before showing you the new plans! 💜

Hopefully last mockup before doing the final item.
➡️I have a dart now
➡️I have my design - I will add rivets all around and maybe over the dart
➡️I may or may not keep the chest ribbon, its easy to attach it later still.
➡️I will stick with the splatter fabric - not this one, but same chains and details.

I don't know why this took me forever, but covering the pink of the mannequin helped me to picture the item immensely. Currently having university work deadlines nearing, maybe it's also just that frying my brain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And when I finally figure this out and get my uni stuff done I'll whip up my matching splatter pants already! They should be smooth sailing considering how long this simple top took me. Designing with is fun 🙃

So here's an update on the work in progress

I got kinda stuck on the top - I know the steps, trim the cups to fit into the shape and then fix the waistband (its just necessary to pin on the mannequin) and I also know I want to use the splatter fabric for the end result. It needs a dart, just need to decide where. Theoretically, a matter of an hour to whip it up and trace it.

But I just don't love it. I don't even know what I don't love, its a mockup, it's just for shape. So, I tried to dress up the mannequin to picture it better.

I think I'll split the top pieces in the middle for a dart, top to bottom - and then I will eliminate the waistband or replace it with chain. I tried to badly draw it on top of the picture (Pic 2) and that MIGHT work out.

I really did not expect the hardest part of this to be the details, not the sewing 😅 But here we are, I guess.
Its ok to not get it done within days, I suppose - that's the nice thing about hobbies, there's no time crunch or stress unless we create it ourselves.

Got the shape mockup almost finished - I need to finish sewing it together, but pinned it fits well- and then I can try making the real thing.

I doodled a few different designs to choose from. Most importantly, I need to find myself (or make!) a fishnet shirt to go underneath or I just know I'll never ever wear it in public anyway 🥲

I'm considering using the bloodsplatter spandex and just making the pants I got planned out (and put in the "after the masters thesis is finally done" bin) first so I'll have scraps left for this top. What do you think?

Let's try that whole top thing again.... Except this time, we're not pinning it on ourselves 😉 We're pinning it on the duct tape mannequin.

This is just some scrap spandex to figure out proportions and getting the dart out, but if this works, I'm planning with studs and chains to match my pants as well as fishnets underneath for a little more coverage. Oh, and this time I'm adding foam cups.

So, I waited with posting this until I got to test it in real life all day wear conditions - but BELT LOOPS that actually work on spandex pants.

I have done spandex loops, but not every belt fits through especially with chains. I've tried no loops or only loops in the front. All of that didn't work- as soon as I jumped at the last concert, the belt was gone. To be expected at a show, I guess. This is what I came up with.
This solution worked great and held up to falling head first over the barrier last week (If you saw me there, no you didnt) and many other stress tests.

You're going to make your regular waistband and then in the outside layer of the casing you'll add pairs of grommets and paracord tie strings. Make sure you wrap the paracord around the elastic so it doesn't pull holes into the waistband and knot it on the ends so it won't come out, then tie your belt to it and it'll hold even with a really heavy chain belt I was wearing.

You'll want to add four of them or five, just don't do center back because you will not easily untie that yourself again. You also can't photograph it well, and for lack of roommates I had to make my model it 😅

I saw pretty much a week ago today and unfortunately got to the merch late - they only had this in larger than me sizes left, but I had to have it!

I wanna make a fitted vest top out of it, but instead of tour dates it has TWO gorgeous designs and now I have to pick between having one of them on the back and hidden under a jacket forever... or cutting the shirt in half and making two tops with a design on the front. Butthen it's no longer the original design front and back 🤔
Aargh. How do I even pick?!
Speaking of pick. I also caught a pick! For some reason it says RON MAIDEN on the back with the I missing, but inflation is real so maybe they ran out of the budget to put another letter on it 😜

Final result of the spiderweb doodling - it fills that space really well!
Also, I finally finished up my wrists on the on Thu, a bullet shoe accessory band from Newrock I put pull strings on lets me pull the jacket sleeve both wide and comfy or tight enough to stay rolled up even when moving a lot or jumping at a concert

The other stuff on it are just the black fabric from my old jacket, the can clip bands I already made with built in watch, and one of the 2019 wristbands that are sold to finance the event every year.
