Behind the scenes of the dress rehearsal of the dizzying Hitchcockian spirals the models walked for the SS26 show.
Inspired by the opening sequence of Hitchcock‘s Vertigo the room was designed to be both an eye and a maze. MJ Harper‘s choreography had the models walking in interlocking spirals as pairs of models entered the runway from each their escalator from opposite sides of the room simultaneously.

The spiralling echoed the collections themes of innocence and darkness, set to a cinematic score.

The music included parts of the original soundtracks from:
NIGHT OF THE HUNTER
VERTIGO
THE SHINING

as well as the finale track ‚My Heart is Empty‘ by Nico and ‚Yorgunum‘ by Zeki Müren

The ALFILM Arab Film Festival Berlin has
existed since 2009 and is the largest platform for diverse Arab cinematography in Germany.

The aim of ALFILM is to highlight films from the Arab world and its diaspora that have a high
artistic value and present challenging
perspectives on contemporary cultural, social and political issues.

In addition to the full selection of films, this year’s festival has an additional program with a specific spotlight on Sudan.

The program is screened in multiple venues and cinemas across Berlin.

This year’s Cinema Du Réel, the international documentary film festival in Paris, sets focus on filmmaker and artist Jumana Manna. In addition to a selection of her films, the festival is also screening a comprehensive program curated in collaboration with Manna titled ‘PALESTINE: WAYS OF REFUSAL’.

‘Jumana Manna’s work never turns its back on the worldview that has precipitated the disaster in which we find ourselves today; rather, it seeks to confront it with gentleness, which can be understood as a paradoxical force, both discreet and powerful, capable of transforming people and things.’

Jumana Manna is a visual artist and filmmaker based in Jerusalem and Berlin. Through sculpture, filmmaking, and writing, Manna deals with the paradoxes of preservation practices, particularly within the fields of architecture, agriculture and law. Her practice considers the tension between the modernist traditions of categorisation and conservation and the unruliness of ruination, life and its regeneration.
