Berlin goes New York City!

This month 12 fashion brands and tech start-ups had the opportunity to participate in a delegation trip to New York City as part of our Fashion Forward Network Project.

The initiative, in collaboration with innovation agency Sqetch, aims to support sustainable business partnerships in the fashion industry between Berlin and the USA and is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Public Enterprises and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

During their stay in NYC the delegation met with a range of international stakeholders, stylists, buyers, investors, journalists and toured NYC's retail market and garment district. All aiming to help them enter the US market. One highlight of the trip was a meeting with German-born designer Melitta Baumeister in her studio where the participants got unique insights into Melitta’s international success story. An exclusive exchange with Steven Kolb and Marc Karimzadeh from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) gave valuable insights on entering the US-market.

We also hosted our second Fireside Dinner outside of Germany, which was accompanied by Chef Simon Cordes and his unique German fusion cuisine at the prestigious Loft 29. The evening unfolded with inspiring conversations and valuable networking opportunities, fostering a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and exchange among our guests.

Yesterday evening we hosted a FIRESIDEDINNER in Mannheim in honor of the opening of our first office outside of Berlin: localONE. Our chairwoman Christiane Arp, FCG CEO Scott Lipinski, localONE Manager Nico Hoffmeister as well as the mayor of Mannheim Dr. Peter Kurz attended the dinner to celebrate the expansion.

We are excited to announce that the office will open its doors in June and is going to be the local destination for all regional members in Baden-Württemberg, Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, and Hessen. We have partnered with NEXT Mannheim and in particular Textilerei, who will support us in the office located in C4, 6 in 68159 Mannheim.
