China is giving its public spaces a fresh look by replacing commercial ads with giant portraits celebrating scientists and farmer heroes.

The idea has attracted attention after shopping centres and public spaces in several Chinese cities began displaying large posters featuring respected figures from science, agriculture, medicine and technology.

Among those featured are well-known names such as Qian Xuesen, Deng Jiaxian, Tu Youyou and Yuan Longping. Yuan Longping is especially remembered for his important contribution to hybrid rice and farming.

In several places, businesses have offered prominent advertising spaces for these public-interest displays, giving people a chance to see inspiring figures while going about their daily lives.

The message is simple and positive: public spaces can also celebrate people whose dedication and achievements have helped society move forward.

Many people online have warmly welcomed the idea, calling these scientists and farmer heroes the real stars worth remembering.

Helping Hands e. V. Urbar Annual Charity Gala. Helping Hands e.V. brings Music, Magic and Community Together for a Cause

There are evenings that are remembered simply because they were entertaining. And then there are evenings that stay with people because they remind them why a community comes together in the first place.

The annual gala of Helping Hands e.V. was one of those evenings. Bringing together leaders, changemakers, friends, families, supporters, and members of the Filipino-German community from across Rheinland Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Hessen and other states in Germany, the celebration transformed the Stadthalle Boppard into a vibrant meeting place of culture, entertainment, friendship, and generosity.

While the organization has made its annual gathering a tradition, this year's celebration carried an especially festive character. Under the leadership of President Gretchen Gipp and the dedicated Helping Hands e.V. members, the evening presented a full program of music, magic, fashion, and live entertainment, while keeping the organization's greater purpose firmly at the heart of the celebration.
