The „Stabelle“ Berlin is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic farmer’s board chair, also known in the Bregenzerwald as the “Stabelle”. This unique piece of furniture combines tradition, craftsmanship and modern design.

"Craft as Myth. Between Ideal and Reality" explores questions such as: Is craft always unique? Is it craft or design? How much brain power goes into craftsmanship? Does craft create identity? Does craft create home? What makes craft a luxury? What distinguishes professionals from amateurs? How much newness is there in the old?

I am happy and proud to announce that Peter Eckart and I initiated and designed the German contribution to the London Design Biennale 2021 under the title "Spoon Archeology".

With the consumption-critical project "Spoon Archeology" we are participating together with the Kunstgewerbemuseum of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden (SKD) in this year's London Design Biennale 2021.

The German Pavilion is curated by Thomas Geisler , director of the Kunstgewerbemuseum. The Biennale will take place at Somerset House Trust in London from June 1 to 27, 2021.
