💧 WHY AQUA IS MORE THAN JUST A SUMMER COLOUR.

The SS2027 menswear runways made one thing clear: Aqua has become much more than an accent colour.

From Prada and Celine to Dior Homme, designers embraced refreshing shades of Aqua, Capri Blue and Cyan to create collections that felt optimistic, calming and effortlessly modern.

What fascinated me wasn't only the colour itself—but how it was used.

Across the runways, Aqua was frequently balanced with deeper tones like Navy, Burgundy and Olive, creating commercially relevant colour stories with depth and longevity. Softer Cyan shades introduced fluidity through lightweight fabrics, transparent layers and relaxed silhouettes, reinforcing the growing consumer desire for nature, wellbeing and emotional escapism.

For me, trend forecasting isn't just about identifying the next key colour.

It's about understanding why a colour resonates, how it evolves across the runway, and how fashion brands can successfully translate it into commercially relevant collections.

🌸 PINK ISN'T GOING ANYWHERE. IT'S EVOLVING.

If there was one colour that challenged traditional menswear expectations on the SS2027 runways, it was Pink.

But not in one single version.

Instead, designers explored the entire spectrum—from Barely There Pink and fresh Salmon Pink to sophisticated Dusty Rose. Each shade told a different story while proving the same point:

Pink has become a commercially relevant colour direction for menswear.

What interested me most wasn't only how often Pink appeared—but how it was styled.
Throughout the collections, Pink was balanced with earthy neutrals, deep burgundy, navy, warm browns and crisp off-whites. These combinations transform Pink from a statement colour into one that feels wearable, modern and commercially viable.

This is exactly why I analyse runway collections beyond simply identifying trends. Understanding how designers combine colours is often just as valuable as knowing which colours are emerging.

Yellow emerged as one of the strongest breakout colours on the SS2027 menswear runways, signalling a shift towards optimism, confidence and modern sophistication.

But Yellow doesn't have to become the loudest colour in a collection.

💙 Dark blues/ Navy creates contrast and lets Yellow become the focal point.

🤍 Warm Beige and soft neutrals tone down its intensity for a refined, timeless look.

When analysing the SS2027 menswear runways, one colour stood out for its remarkable versatility and commercial potential: Olive.
With an 84% increase in runway presence compared to the previous Spring/Summer season, Olive has evolved beyond a seasonal trend.
It is emerging as a modern neutral — bridging tailoring, premium casualwear and luxury streetwear while offering longevity across multiple product categories.
What makes Olive particularly relevant is its ability to adapt to different creative directions through colour styling.
🌿 Worn tone-on-tone, it creates a refined and contemporary look.
💙 Combined with Ocean Blue, it feels fresh, modern and full of contrast.
🍷 Paired with deep Burgundy, it gains richness and sophistication.
🤍 Styled with Off-White and soft neutrals, it delivers timeless elegance and understated luxury.
For me, this is what colour forecasting is really about.

When analysing the SS2027 menswear runways, one colour kept appearing across collections in different cities and from very different brands:
🟤Burned Orange / Rust.

At first glance, it's simply a warm seasonal highlight.
But after looking closer, something more interesting emerged.

This colour isn't limited to one aesthetic—it adapts to different creative directions depending on how it's combined.

🟠 Paired with soft pastels, Rust creates a relaxed Riviera-inspired mood.
🌿 Combined with fresh greens, it moves towards a natural, outdoor-inspired story.

ℹ️ Is deep sky blue back in 2026? or... sorry.. should I say, Cerulean? 😏
I just love these scene in "The Devil wears Prada" 😄
In the 21st century Cerulean Blue unexpectedly became part of a colour theory. In the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada, Cerulean Blue is the blue pullover worn by character Andy, a fashion editorial assistant, who insists that she makes no effort to follow trends. Miranda Priestley, the Editorial Director (Meryl Streep), proceeds to lecture Andy on the influence of the colour, using Cerulean Blue as her guide.

❗ PS. The word cerulean comes from the Latin caeruleus, meaning dark blue caelum – which in turn probably derives from caelulum, translating as heaven or sky.

For commercial collections for AW 2027-28, it is important to observe the colours most frequently seen on the runways, also known as key colours.

🔴 For commercial collections for AW 2027-28, it is important to observe the colors most frequently seen on the runways, also known as key colors 🎨
As always, core colors such as black and white were very dominant. However, bright red, brown, dark berry, purple, and grey tones were also well-represented for this winter season. Bright red remains a major trend, just as it was in the previous summer season, serving as a striking eye-catcher. Brown acted as the vehicle for the "revived" boho-chic aesthetic and the primary anchor for ultra-luxury. Purple emerged as a transformative force, successfully dethroning long-standing favorites like burgundy to become the season's premier "it" color. While burgundy is still present, it has shifted toward a "berry" shade, a more deep cherry red. These cherry shades evoke a sense of heritage and sophistication, offering a great new alternative to black and brown. Finally, grey transitioned from a background neutral to a powerful "statement" color, with many declaring it the 'new brown'.

With purple taking the crown 👑 and grey being celebrated 🎉 as the 'new brown', which of these colours do you see dominating your upcoming collections? I´d love to hear your thoughts! 💭
