ℹ️ Is deep sky blue back in 2026? or... sorry.. should I say, Cerulean? 😏
I just love these scene in "The Devil wears Prada" 😄
In the 21st century Cerulean Blue unexpectedly became part of a colour theory. In the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada, Cerulean Blue is the blue pullover worn by character Andy, a fashion editorial assistant, who insists that she makes no effort to follow trends. Miranda Priestley, the Editorial Director (Meryl Streep), proceeds to lecture Andy on the influence of the colour, using Cerulean Blue as her guide.

❗ PS. The word cerulean comes from the Latin caeruleus, meaning dark blue caelum – which in turn probably derives from caelulum, translating as heaven or sky.

For commercial collections for AW 2027-28, it is important to observe the colours most frequently seen on the runways, also known as key colours.

🔴 For commercial collections for AW 2027-28, it is important to observe the colors most frequently seen on the runways, also known as key colors 🎨
As always, core colors such as black and white were very dominant. However, bright red, brown, dark berry, purple, and grey tones were also well-represented for this winter season. Bright red remains a major trend, just as it was in the previous summer season, serving as a striking eye-catcher. Brown acted as the vehicle for the "revived" boho-chic aesthetic and the primary anchor for ultra-luxury. Purple emerged as a transformative force, successfully dethroning long-standing favorites like burgundy to become the season's premier "it" color. While burgundy is still present, it has shifted toward a "berry" shade, a more deep cherry red. These cherry shades evoke a sense of heritage and sophistication, offering a great new alternative to black and brown. Finally, grey transitioned from a background neutral to a powerful "statement" color, with many declaring it the 'new brown'.

With purple taking the crown 👑 and grey being celebrated 🎉 as the 'new brown', which of these colours do you see dominating your upcoming collections? I´d love to hear your thoughts! 💭

📣 WGSN and Coloro have just revealed their Colour of the Year for 2028: Radiant Earth (Coloro 017-42-31).
This earthy, burnt red-orange is very similar to the colour I just wrote about in my last post, "KEY COLOURS | A/W 26/27 RUNWAY | MENSWEAR".
✍ I wrote: "I really wanted the color sienna/rust in there, but ultimately, the grey tones won the battle. Maybe I will make a separate post about sienna/rust." While Radiant Earth is perhaps a bit more reddish, it is "pretty damn close" and very similar to the outfit from IM MEN (Issey Miyake).
I personally think it is a very warm, grounded color that fits perfectly with many styles, such as jackets, pants, and knitwear.
As WGSN writes, it is designed to represent stability and resilience in an increasingly volatile world- a grounded, assertive, yet trans-seasonal neutral that evokes clay, soil, and the warm glow of a sunset. While past colours focused on digital escapism, Radiant Earth focuses on "surviving to thriving" and emotional grounding 💖

🔔 RUNWAY TREND SPOT | KEY COLOURS | AW2026/27 | MEN
The menwear’s AW26/27 fashion shows in NY, London, Milan, Florence and Paris wrapped up in late January. (The women fashion week is still going in on, so I also have a lot of research going on there 🔍 )

For commercial collections for AW 2027-28, it is important to observe the colours most frequently seen on the runways, also known as key colours.
The chosen 5 key colours, I noticed, are grey, brown, mustard, burgundy and olive green. Similar colours to burgundy and mustard are also represented in the WGSN key colours for AW 27-28, just a bit lighter. Therefore, these two should be 'safe' colours for the next autumn/winter menswear collection.

The runways were dominated by black and greys. Although I initially hesitated to choose grey as a key colour (because I see white, black and greys more as a base colour), the 56% rise 📈 from last season was too significant to ignore (compared to a 5% rise for black). I really wanted the colour sienna/rust in there, but ultimately, the grey tones won the battle. Maybe I will make a separate post about sienna/rust 🧐
