Ella es Bleidis Mejía, una de las hermosas manos detrás de KÊMI Atelier. Es ella quien da vida a muchas de nuestras prendas, desde nuestros topcitos y vestidos cortos hasta nuestros vestidos halter con la espalda descubierta.

Nació justo al lado del Parque Tayrona y creció rodeada de naturaleza. Durante muchos años, fue creando poco a poco el hermoso Cabañas Refugio Trenzado , un espacio lleno de naturaleza, creatividad y vida, que refleja profundamente su manera de conectar con el entorno.

Cuando no está cosiendo para KÊMI Atelier, seguramente la encontrarás trabajando en alguno de sus muchos proyectos creativos: desde macramé y decoración para el hogar hasta mochilas hechas a mano. La creatividad simplemente es parte de quien es. 🤍. Meet Bleidis 🤍

She is Bleidis Mejía, one of the beautiful hands behind KÊMI Atelier. She is the one who brings many of our pieces to life, from our little tops and short dresses to our backless halter dresses.

She was born right next to Tayrona National Park and grew up surrounded by nature. Over many years, she slowly created the beautiful Refugio Trenzado, a space filled with nature, creativity, and life, deeply reflecting her way of connecting with her surroundings.

When she’s not sewing for KÊMI Atelier, you’ll most likely find her working on one of her many creative projects: from macramé and home décor to handmade mochilas. Creativity is simply part of who she is. 🤍

The story of this outfit doesn’t begin in a factory.

It begins high in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia.

Hidden among the trees grows the Cascario tree. Its bark is what gives this fabric its rich, vibrant orange color through the art of natural dyeing.

For me, this is one of the most beautiful parts of the process. It’s not just about creating color. It’s about connecting with people, sharing knowledge, and walking through the forest together in search of the plants that will become the colors of our next collection.

Every garment carries the story of the landscape it comes from.
Now, this story can become part of yours.

This pink comes from Una, a plant I was introduced to by members of the Kogi community while hiking to Ciudad Perdida. Growing high in the Sierra Nevada, it isn’t easy to find, but it creates beautiful shades of pink and soft purple.

So far, I’ve been introduced to four different natural sources of these vibrant hues: cochineal in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, where I learned about traditional Zapotec natural dyeing; Palo de Brasil, which grows on the hills around Santa Marta; Chingiza, shared with me by a Wiwa Community in the Sierra Nevada; and Una.

Every new plant reminds me how much there is still to learn from nature.

Este rosa proviene de Una, una planta que conocí gracias a miembros de la comunidad Kogi durante mi caminata hacia Ciudad Perdida. Crece en lo más alto de la Sierra Nevada y no es fácil encontrarla, pero regala hermosos tonos rosados y morados.

Hasta ahora he tenido la oportunidad de conocer cuatro fuentes naturales de estos colores: la cochinilla, en Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, donde aprendí sobre el teñido natural tradicional zapoteco; el Palo de Brasil, que crece en los bosques y las colinas alrededor de Santa Marta; la chinguisa, compartida conmigo por una comunidad Wiwa de la Sierra Nevada; y Una.

Cada nueva planta me recuerda cuánto queda por aprender de la naturaleza.

Behind this outfit is ancestral knowledge. This beautiful pink color comes from a plant I discovered thanks to the Wiwa community of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

They shared with me the knowledge of chinguisa, a dye plant that has become part of my work.
Using it, I create naturally dyed garments, respecting the time each process and every color requires.

Este rosa intenso nace de la cochinilla, un pigmento natural utilizado desde hace siglos. A través de la técnica bundle dye, el color se transfiere al tejido creando formas y matices irrepetibles.

Cada vestido es teñido de manera artesanal y cada pieza es única, porque la naturaleza nunca crea dos veces el mismo diseño.
