What looks simple starts far from the factory floor. SAMURAI JEANS grows its own cotton in Sasayama (), harvests it by hand, and spins it into irregular yarn full of character.

Tubular-knitted in Wakayama into a truly substantial 16oz jersey with the texture of their Zero denim, it carries a weight you don’t expect from a tee.

Depending on the color, natural dyes derived from black soybeans or Tamba chestnut skins give each piece a tone that feels organic and slightly unpredictable.

In Kyoto, vintage Union Special machines bring it all together — flat seam by flat seam, using cotton thread throughout. A slower, more deliberate path in every detail.

Overkill? Maybe. Worth it? Definitely.

The 11oz selvedge denim from Yoshiwa Mills is pushed through an extended bleach process that removes sharpness rather than adding effect.

Y‘2 Leather takes the old Type I and gives it time instead of treatment. Cut from 1.5mm Kakishibu horsehide, dyed with traditional Japanese persimmon tannin, this leather doesn’t arrive finished — it arrives ready. Pale at first, then slowly turning as light does its work. Amber builds, deepens, and settles into a tone that feels less made than revealed.

No pigments, no artificial surface. Just an open grain, full of depth, willing to change. The familiar details remain — double pleats, a single chest pocket, iron donut buttons — but they step back, letting the leather carry the weight.

Made in Japan, with the patience this process demands. The rest happens out there — in the sun, over time, on you.
