I always shape suit collars with a stabilized (felt) collar hidden underneath the top collar, to get that crisp 'n' sharp look, and a much more durable fit. It can either be machine- or hand stitched on, with technique chosen according to flexibility, level of advanced design and softness wanted. One takes longer time than the other.

With matching plaids and hand worked buttonholes as a standard, the brightly colored and vintage looking "No. 01-2017" wool jacket could actually quite well represents what's important for us here at the tailoring studio. Thorough work. And even more so, if the breast pocket should be inspected at a closer range with it's no stitches or zigzag seams visible there. (We secure it by hand from the inside instead.) I like to think it gives the garment a much cleaner look that way.

The "No. 01-2017" Sten Martin wool jacket's lapel is actually quite high and wide which I think is a nice twist on the otherwise very narrow silhouette indeed. And its facing is hand-stitch on top of the base along it's full length, to get a more full control of the cheques and stripes - and making the seam much softer too of course. The shoulder isn't padded at all, for a more comfortable and natural look, and the sleeve head has no pre-fabricated wadding in it either, it's only padded with strips of the jackets own wool fabric. All chosen to bring back memories of that "long-ago-lost" bespoke tailoring.
