Such a wonderful opportunity to visit Nishiguchi Kutsush*ta in Nara, Japan, where Isato Nishiguchi, who is the director and third generation of the family run company his grandfather founded in 1950. The company started out with one single hand-operating knitting machine but has grown to have more than 130 knitting machines.
The old Japanese knitting machines are still being used for certain types of socks but are also joined by state-of-the-art Italian machines.
It was fascinating to get a firsthand opportunity to see the dedication and meticulous efforts that are put into crafting the highest quality socks. Each sock goes through several processes and steps of quality control before it is ready to leave, even a metal detector (to ensure no metal pieces from the machines could potentially have found their way into a sock).
Thank you Isato for being such a great host 🤍
