Light in colour! One of the defining qualities of Verner Panton's lighting in Cirkusbygningen is his use of indirect illumination, where coloured ceilings reflect light back into the room. It doesn't Just brighten the space - it reshapes it, turning the interior into a unified, enveloping atmosphere. To recreate that effect today, the lighting must be adjustable and in sync, just as Panton intended. Only in that harmony does Panton's choreography of light unfold.

From a moment under the starry sky, where one exclaimed “what a light!” — to now, where I finally stand here with my book “Brogaard Seen in the Light of Darkness” in my hands.
In my book, I unfold a concept I call “the light of darkness”:
In the natural light of day, darkness falls as shadow — and in darkness, light finds its way as a reflection of the day. They do not cancel each other out, but live within one another. How do we slip into darkness, experience ourselves and our surroundings through it, and how do we relate to darkness as a natural part of life?

The work on The Light of Darkness came to life in close collaboration with artist and photographer Naja Viščor, who captured the photos for this book and its companion book Brogaard, As Seen by Naja Viščor. Her eye has been an invaluable part of the process – a light within the darkness, so to speak.

Thanks to Summer 25: Spent, among other places, at Sostrup Castle, whose fairytale atmosphere sets the stage for Drakonheart, an initiative for children with special creative talents.
It is a thrill to unleash my inner stagelight designer and approach the task experimentally, playfully, and consciously free of dogma, and here encounter the mythical and the imaginative. Light is a magical tool for transformation, opening up new ways of thinking and new associations.
At Sostrup Castle, it is in the tension between the familiar and the unexpected, between history and curiosity, that Drakonheart unfolds and sets the imagination free.

Countess Danner was both a reviled woman and an agent of change. Born a commoner and becoming an unofficial queen, she was met with scorn and resistance – but also carried a strong belief in equality and justice.
The exhibition at Frederiksborg Castle – her home with Frederik VII – conveys both her personal journey and the changing society of which she was a part. I have had the GREAT pleasure of designing the lighting for the exhibition, where light functions as an active narrative layer in interplay with the curation and scenography.
The lighting is composed to create moods in the rooms en suite along the castle’s east wing, underlining both the transitions in her life and in the story. Light has been cast on a life lived against the wind, for even in the shadows there is light and color. We move from darker, tighter sections that reflect humiliation and exclusion, to warm and bright rooms where her strength and legacy can emerge. The exhibition opens up nuances and contrasts, and Countess Danner’s wonderful and whimsical color universe is highlighted in the light.
Countess Danner was a woman who challenged her time. In love, politics, and public life she was met with resistance because she dared to place herself where she was not allowed to stand.
The exhibition at Frederiksborg Castle gives new life to Danner’s story – and precisely because it unfolds in her former home, the rooms themselves become co-narrators.

Thanks to Summer 25: Once again, Lightscapes and Brogaard had the pleasure of welcoming our Japanese colleagues – an annual tradition where conversations about light, space, and perception cross both languages and disciplines.
This time, it was darkness that took center stage. A theme that, within Japanese aesthetics, holds a depth and precision I had the opportunity to experience firsthand earlier this year.
“The light of darkness” is a concept I’ve been working with for over a decade – and one that will soon find its place in my upcoming book, The Light of Darkness – a Place in the Countryside.

Thank you sommer 25: Subtle lighting gestures are not what’s called for when setting the stage for one of the most defining moments in Danish history. At the meeting point between Norse paganism and Christianity, the kingdom is united under one king.
In 2023, the Viking fortress Borgring was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and has since been reborn as a museum. In the King’s Hall, the lighting design is crafted to support the narrative and highlight the historical drama at play.

🙏 So happy and honoured to be chosen as the lighting designer for Ribe Cathedral!
Ribe Cathedral lies in a Dark Sky area, and to be here in the light of the moon an stars is to be present as part of the city and the country, with solid ground under your feet and the open sky above your head, of past and present. The lighting design should therefore be completely glare-free, discrete and soft, as if there were no lights on at all.

Final touches to the exhibition lighting of up-coming exhibition Grevinde Danner. Great collaboration within the team and with the permanent staff, enabling adequate time and care for securiity of artifacts, conservation and visual comfort in terms of colour and brightness contrast, colour stability and rendering properties, correct modelling and intensity for each material.
Feel all happy with such kind collegues for a few days, lunch breaks, laughter and conversations about travelling, the climate, Danner-rock, preservation of materials, good beer etc. Wonderful time slot. Thank you so much! Grevinde Danner exhibition at this historical place opens on April 30th!

Great to be back at glas crafts museum and working with the lighting in the unique place , which seemed to have become a creative hub, where some of the most visionary artists and designers from around the world come together to create works that both honour the classic glass craft and challenge its boundaries. We do the same with light! Two 200-anniversary exhibitions open on April 5th "FEST and GNIST" ("PARTY and SPARCLE") I am deeply inspired by artists such as Frida Fjellman, maria koshenkova and Hanna Hansdotter as well as designer Helle Mardahl , who in the exhibition 'GNIST' explores the collaboration between glassworks and artist. SÅ blev der afholdt bogudgivelse på Brogaard ved det nye .
En meget festlig dag med klar forårssol, den smukkeste levende musik, vilde smagsoplevelser fra bl.a. og taler. Tusind, tusind tak til de over 100 berigende mennesker, som lagde vejen forbi os for at dele denne mærkedag med os og for at købe bøgerne. Vi er rørte og glade. Af hjertet TAK!
Brogaard har givet os, og utroligt mange andre mennesker der har været her, så meget. Den nye bogserie ynder at give bare lidt tilbage til stedet og almenheden.
Lys er naturen. Mørkets lys er det samme lys og det samme mørke, som vores forfædre så og levede i. Da gården blev bygget i ca 1860'erne, levede de under den samme himmel, de samme stjerner, det samme månelys og alle detaljerne blev skabt for eftertiden under denne himmel og på denne plet jord. Det er en smuk tanke fordi det gør gården her til 'et sted'.
Bogserien er en betagende billedessay der fortæller om dette sted i naturens lys og i naturens mørke, krydret med lidt forsigtigt kunstlys her og der...og titlerne ? "Brogaard set i Mørkets Lys" Iben Winther Orton, SpangsbergRosener, christina hauschildt, Toby Orton og "Brogaard set af Naja Viscor"
