At just 11 years old, Texas native Kortnee Solomon made history by competing in the first nationally televised Black rodeo. Her appearance marked a meaningful moment, blending youth, talent, and representation on a national stage.
Kortnee’s rodeo journey began early. She started competing at the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo at only five years old and has since earned multiple titles in youth barrel racing and junior breakaway events. With consistent training and guidance, she developed skills well beyond her years.
Supported by her family and her trusted horse, Tiny, Kortnee continues a multi-generation rodeo tradition. Her story highlights how dedication, heritage, and early experience can open doors and inspire future generations.
