(It’s been a while…but we’re back!)

WATCHbelt for Garmin Fenix smartwatch; made using vintage upcycled Vittoria Corsa EVO CX tyre + stainless-steel fittings

The amazing story here is that I originally made a WATCHbelt (green-striped PAVÉ) for this watch at the very beginnings of BUCK!T, back in Adelaide; when Marco was staying there for a few months…

FFD to the present day; and his dad, Stéphane, is using the same watch but needed a fresh strap as the original was nearing the end of its days

So I built this fresh version; using a chunkier, over-sized, buckle to complement the watch’s sizing and tie in with the modern chicago-screws used to build the strap

I use these screws for assembly, ad they last MUCH longer than stitching would AND allow for the strap to be disassembled and rebuilt when needed - eg. To replace the rubber keeper (with one of the two extras I included on the packaging) or just to fit it to the watch if you don’t have the Torq-driver specific to the Garmin watch

Another cycling-kit repair…

This old Castelli Cycling jersey was originally bought in London around 15 years ago; and the sleeves and rear pockets had completely died from the sun, so needed replacing!

I used the original sleeve elastic (pink/grey detail) in combination with some lightweight black fabric for some funky new sleeves with maximum comfort!

For the pockets I used a lightweight 4-way stretch mesh (the same one I typically use to add cargo-pockets to bib-shorts) and also incorporated the zipped pocket

The result is an updated jersey that will be useful for many (more) years to come!!

This extra-large capacity barbag (~3.5litre) was custom made for just before she headed to Kazakhstan for an amazing biking trip - hope you had fun, JoAnn! 🇰🇿

Extra wide, extra deep, extra waterproof, extra features, extra accessible!!

As this bag would generally be used on a gravel bike with wider/flared bars, it could be bigger than usual and allow for much more storage. A thicker, Xpac lining with taped seams, adds further security against downpours when paired with our highest level, fully waterproof zipper & zip-garages too ☔️

You know how it can be difficult stuffing large items into a barbag through the zipped opening? Well, this bag has a waterproof, zip-open end; just like a tin can, but better! So you can slide an item as big as the bag itself in from the end with ease🥫

The package is finished off with reflective details (puller and bag-stripe); a head-tube strap & a custom (removable) cargo-net for quick access to extra clothing, like a rain jacket, on those dodgier days

Different to all the previous bags we’ve made; this one actually combines many different tyre types/manufacturers for a colourful & funky design to best suit JoAnn’s beautiful gravel machine

BUCK!T now offers repair services for your favourite running, gravelling and bike-packing kit!

Broken zips, unstitched seams, failing buckles/hardware and/or improvements to bags, hydration vests, bivys, etc. are all possible

As a young architect, I started repairing (& making) my own clothes, long before I started BUCK!T; so it seems logical to return to this with the more serious equipment, now at my disposal

Sustainability is in every choice you make, from the coffee you drink to the clothes you wear, to the holidays you choose and in the way you look after what you own
😌
So when Cheynna approached me to repair (and strengthen) her two running vests I was both impressed (by her commitment to ) and proud (in her choosing me for the job)

After 5 years of solid use and UV-deterioration, most of the stretch fabric of one vest was totally dead, and a few holes had even started to form in the hex-mesh layer that the vest is built around

So I stripped away all the old pockets, keeping the fittings, zips, etc; and then rebuilt the vest from the ground-up, repairing & strengthening the worn-through parts and matching the original pocket layout in new fabric and fresh elastic, even reusing the zip (which I serviced: removing oxidisation from the puller + get it running smoothly again)

For her newer, “racing” vest; I reinforced the areas we knew would fail in the long-term (portions of the hex-mesh + the main junction between the rear pockets) based on where the older vest had started to wear out. The result is a stronger more robust vest that will last even longer, before needing and actual repairs!!
