🇬🇧THE THIMBLE
Because I have a thing about them…🫠

There is no certain record of who invented the thimble, or exactly when it first appeared.

What we do know is that it is very old. Some of the earliest known thimble-like objects date back more than 2,000 years.

Its purpose was simple: to protect the finger and help push the needle through fabric.

For centuries, thimbles were made by hand. Then, in the late 17th century, John Lofting, a Dutch metalworker in London, became one of the first to produce thimbles on an industrial scale.

But perhaps what fascinates me most is not who made the first one.

It is the journey.

They have been held, used, worn and passed from one hand to another. They carry traces of work, time and lives we will never know.

Walker, there is no path,
the path is made by walking.

And perhaps that is what I see in them: not simply objects, but little pieces of a journey.

What if a thimble could be art, and art could be worn?

🇬🇧MAKE IT YOURS.

And then… it’s no longer ours to tell.

Sometimes there’s a message.
Sometimes a photograph.
Sometimes we simply imagine where it went, who wore it, the places it has seen, the moments it became part of.

A new existence begins.
Somewhere far away.

And perhaps that is the most beautiful part of making something by hand:
not knowing exactly where its story will take it.

Y entonces… ya no nos corresponde contar su historia.

A veces llega un mensaje.
A veces una fotografía.
A veces simplemente imaginamos adónde fue, quién lo llevó, los lugares que ha conocido, los momentos de los que pasó a formar parte.

Comienza una nueva existencia.
En algún lugar lejano.

Y quizás esa sea la parte más bonita de hacer algo a mano: no saber exactamente adónde llevará su historia.

Tengo la más profunda admiración por todos aquellos que tienen un flujo ininterrumpido de creatividad.

Me parece admirable.

Yo, en cambio, soy como la Luna: tengo fases.

Y cuando entro en cuarto menguante, no me estanco. El Síndrome del Pensamiento Acelerado no afloja. 😂

Pero tengo una regla sagrada: no creo piezas más que para mí, para la casa, para mis mascotas. Hago experimentos, desmonto, aprendo.

O simplemente me limito a meditar, reflexionar y observar la insoportable levedad de mi ser.

Y esto es porque sé que todo lo que existe es energía, y crear por obligación está fuera de cuestión.

Si no estoy bien, pero tengo que crear, no se aplica.

Sobre todo, jamás crear una pieza impregnada de una energía menos buena.

La creatividad no es un grifo abierto 24/7 — al menos para mí.

Hay fases en las que hacemos; hay fases en las que observamos.
Hay fases en las que damos forma; hay fases en las que dejamos que las cosas tomen forma dentro de nosotros.

Y ninguna de ellas es tiempo perdido.

Así pues, cuando tengo días de no, la pieza que tú hiciste tuya nunca llega a materializarse.

Queda flotando.

Hasta que el creciente va lentamente imponiéndose, vuelve el ánimo, y todo el proceso de gestar, hacer, ejecutar, nace de la armonía.

Cristalino. Puro. Auténtico.

🇬🇧I have the deepest admiration for all those who have an uninterrupted flow of creativity.

I find it admirable.

I, on the other hand, am like the Moon: I have phases.

And when I enter my waning phase, I don’t stagnate.
The Accelerated Thinking Syndrome doesn’t slow down. 😂

But I have one sacred rule:
I don’t create pieces for anyone but myself, for the house, for my pets. I experiment, take things apart, learn.

Or I simply retreat into meditating, reflecting and observing the unbearable lightness of being.

And that is because I know that everything that exists is energy, and creating out of obligation is out of the question.

If I’m not well, but I have to create, it doesn’t apply.

Above all, I would never create a piece impregnated with less-than-good energy.

Creativity isn’t a tap running 24/7 — at least not for me.

There are phases when we make; there are phases when we observe.
There are phases when we give things shape; there are phases when we let things take shape within us.

And none of them is wasted time.

So, when I have days of no, the piece that you might have made yours never materialises.

It simply hovers.

Until the waxing Moon slowly takes over, my spirits return, and the whole process of gestating, making, executing, becomes a product of harmony.

Crystal clear. Pure. Authentic.

🇬🇧And perhaps this is what I really mean when I talk about looking back.

It is not nostalgia.

It is not reproduction.

It is not bringing something back simply because it was once fashionable.

It is looking closely enough to recognise an idea that still deserves to exist — and then giving it a new life through my own hands.

The original reference.
The thread.
The making.
The details.
The finished pieces.

One idea travelled through time.

This is where it arrived.

🇪🇸Y quizás esto es lo que realmente quiero decir cuando hablo de mirar hacia atrás.

No es nostalgia.

No es reproducción.

No es recuperar algo simplemente porque alguna vez estuvo de moda.

Es mirar con suficiente atención para reconocer una idea que todavía merece existir — y después darle una nueva vida a través de mis propias manos.

La referencia original.
El hilo.
El proceso.
Los detalles.
Las piezas terminadas.

Una idea ha viajado a través del tiempo.

Aquí es donde ha llegado.

After that come the choices:

the yarn,
the stitch,
the construction,
the proportions,
the details,
the colour.

That is where a reference stops being a reference and becomes a creation.

The original idea may have a history.

This one has mine.

🇪🇸La referencia es solo el principio.

Después llegan las decisiones:

el hilo,
el punto,
la construcción,
las proporciones,
los detalles,
el color.

Ahí es cuando una referencia deja de ser solamente una referencia y se convierte en una creación.

La idea original puede tener una historia.

Esta tiene la mía.

🇬🇧I am not particularly interested in following a trend simply because it is a trend.

I am much more interested in the things that survive the trend.

Pieces that still have a purpose.
An attitude.
A way of completing an outfit.
A reason to exist.

Maybe that is why I keep looking back.

Not to stay in the past.

To see what is still worth bringing forward.

🇪🇸No me interesa especialmente seguir una tendencia solo porque sea una tendencia.

Me interesan mucho más las cosas que sobreviven a la tendencia.

Piezas que todavía tienen un propósito.
Una actitud.
Una manera de completar un conjunto.
Una razón para existir.

Quizás por eso sigo mirando hacia atrás.

No para quedarme en el pasado.

Sino para descubrir qué merece seguir adelante.

🇬🇧I have always been drawn to pieces that add something.

A layer.
A texture.
A detail.
A different proportion.
A finishing touch.

Something that can change the way an outfit feels without taking it over.

That is one of the reasons the snood caught my attention.

It is small, but it can change the whole reading of what you are wearing.

And sometimes that is exactly what good fashion should do.

🇪🇸Siempre me han atraído las piezas que aportan algo.

Una capa.
Una textura.
Un detalle.
Una proporción diferente.
El toque final.

Algo capaz de cambiar cómo se siente un conjunto sin apoderarse de él.

Esa es una de las razones por las que el snood llamó mi atención.

Es una pieza pequeña, pero puede cambiar por completo la lectura de lo que llevas puesto.

Y a veces eso es exactamente lo que debería hacer una buena pieza de moda.
