Another day, another set up!

This time, the configuration is from a very lightweight versatile setup.

It's made out of 5 equal segments, each formed by 50m long S.O.S high tech webbing, and 50m of half marathon, a 20mm polyester line.

This two webbings were stitched in the middle, with a Type C connection, giving it a great strength and 0 problems with the leashrings.

To add some extra length for the backup, it was made some extenders also with half marathon, minimizing size and allowing an easy connection in one of the lines through a girth hitch.

With this configuration, it allows switching the main, having HMPE or Polyester main, with a quick switch of the extender 💪🏼

Happy new year to all the line walkers!

For this coming year, I hope many new projects and beautiful lines for everyone ⛰️

On the other side of the screen, we'll try to keep improving, creating and testing new stuff, in order to make better and safer setups for everyone.

Let's begin with this single test, which is not much, but was a very good challenge.

The test was done on the mythical Aeon from Landcruising. For those who don't know it, it's a 99% Dyneema, 37gr/m and a breaking strength over 60Kn!

It was very interesting to discover the results on such a strong and unique webbing, and find the strength retention I could get with the sewn loop on it.

Now, numbers! 📈

Breaking strength of the test: 41.96Kn!

As seen in the picture, the webbing didn't break in the stitching, but inside the testing device, the "Whale" 🐳

The Whale was design to retain close to the 100% of the breaking strength on normal webbings, but in strong slippery webbings like this one, the load shifts slowly to the front pin, which makes the webbing weaker.

Anyway, the fact that the webbing not breaking on the stitching is an amazing result! 💪🏼

Can't wait to get another sample of Aeon and do a loop to loop test to see the real strength of it!

Freestyle, freestyle and freestyle! It seems is all about that this days in highline. And according to that, it's getting time to solve some of the "problems" that this discipline (and it's dedicated gear) has.

A new idea: the "DiXipator"
The concept of the "diXipator" is: in a freestyle setup with one stitch in the middle (Type X), having multiple dissipating stitches close to the sewn loop on the backup.

This stitches on the backup have been optimized to get undone at a force of 4-5 Kn so in the case of a backup fall, they blow up and absorb part of the energy.

Besides the dissipating effect, the other porpoise of that stitching is: when your mainline has creeped to the point of bottoming on the bounce, the user can undo that stitching, adding extra length to it.

In that way you avoid the problem common in setups like Type C's, or having to add extenders or other gear.

Sharp dressed loops 🐧
Usually I love to play with colorful configurations, but in this case, the costumer needed some discreet loops for performances. So, here they are, dark colored but stylish loops ready for public shows, spacenets and lines where the act is more important than the gear 🤘🏼

Time for another personalized set up! This one has been the biggest one done by SEP (for the moment), with a total of aprox. 600m, for the awesome and .
The set up was done with Maverick and White magic, in 4 pieces (115, 140, 165 and 185 aprox.).
As is getting usual in this kind of high-end fractioning, Main and backup were sewn between 25 and 40m depending each piece, and all of them, with unique colors to keep them organized and controled 😁
It's wonderful to see the projects it has been used, like the 545m in the pictures, or the 300m free solo record!
In the pictures there's other works done, like 250m of French line fractioned with 3 T-loops... Things are getting ready for the 1k!!! 🔥🔥🔥

How strong are your loops? Strong enough to bend shackles and deform weblocks? 😂
This is the first (and probably last) test done on Sonic ll, the legendary webbing by Landcruising/Aki, core-sheat construction.
Webbing MBS: 35Kn
Breaking strength of the loop: 34.5Kn (98.6% efficiency).

Simple test, awesome result 😁
This was a 1 vs 1 test on loops, with the nylon tubular webbing Nylove.
The MBS given by the manufacturer is 31Kn, and the MBS given for the sewn loop is 26.2Kn.
In this test, the result of the weakest loop (having one against each other the weakest one is the one breaking first) was 32.1Kn, which is a really really good result, and even gives info for making it stronger!
Obviously this test wasn't done with 3 sigma mbs, but still a great insight, having a 32.1Kn and >32.1Kn results 💪🏼

Reuse, repair, re-cycle!

It feels great giving a second chance to old stuff! In this case, we gave a new life to an old piece of trickline. With a couple of sewn loops, is ready to be used as a light sling for parklines, longlines and even tricklines! Strong enough to pull down the tree you are hugging 💪🏼

Here comes the sun... 🌞
Tests about UV and sun degradation on stitching. This is a continuation of the tests performed on Joker loops after 2 months of sun.
In this tests, we used 2 webbings, Sigma N (identical to MOTM), and Y.A.W (identical to Helium). 2 samples of each webbing were sewn and kept safe, and the other 2, were exposed for a continuous month only on one side with a strong summer sun🏜️. Samples were exposed from 7am to 9-10pm everyday, with a total of around 420 hours of sun.

Going to the tests👩‍🔬:
In Sigma N (nylon tub.) sample 9 and 11 don't see any sun and broke at 23Kn. Samples 10 and 12, after one month, broke at 18Kn and 15Kn. This translates into a 78% and 65% strength retention.
On YAW, (flat PES) the no-exposed samples 13 and 15 broke at 25.5Kn and 24Kn respectively, while their twins 14 and 16, broke at 20Kn and 18Kn. This translates into a 78% and 75% the strength retention.
Going back with the past tests on Joker after 2 months (both sides of the webbing), the webbings went from 27Kn to 23.8Kn, with a efficiency of 88%.

After this tests, some things come into mind.1️⃣ The first, is that webbing may degrade faster than what we expect, and get a quite low BS in short time.2️⃣ The second, it looks like the aging of the webbing is faster than the one on (this) sewn loops.3️⃣ The third, is that the big difference between the strength retention on Joker and the other two, is related with the construction of the webbings. Both YAW and N lack of core, thus having a big amount of the fibers exposed, while a core-sheat construction keeps fibers away from 🌞

Setting new standards!
First of all, I'd like to thank to to help us with the breaktests, as many of them were above 30Kn
This is a small part of some tests done, here specially in Skye 2 from Equilibrium Slacklines, with leftovers from a previous customer set up.
The six tests shown in the photos, broke in the weblock instead of the stitching, signal of a very good efficiency of the stitching. 💪🏼
The average breaking strength of the tests was 32.35Kn, on this 31Kn Mbs webbing!
Taking as base the (ISA) criteria for certifying webbings and sewn loops, we took 6 samples (ISA says 3), and did the MBS with 3 Sigma (standard deviation) with a result of 30.82Kn MBS.
With this results, the loops would fit the ISA standards Type A webbing loops (+24Kn), and even the Type A+ (+32Kn) if we take the average breaking strength!
We will be working hard to keep a high level work and very high standards with safety 😁👍🏼

Something new heading towards France! The lovely group of Montpellier sent me some webbings, to prepare a bomber set up in a permarig, destined to perish in the 🌞
What we did here, it's using a 100m main as 2 separate lines, that will switch places when one is already too 🍳
Planned to be used in a 50m permanent midline, it's fractioned and safe, and allowing to regulate the backup (tubular nylon lines with permarigs, change in length (creep), which makes important being able to adjust length).
As the fractioning is intended to be around the middle, we are trying something new to avoid falling continuously on the stitching. We added a sewn protective tubular layer covering the stitching, avoiding: a) Abrasion and b) UV exposure
Also in the same package, we are sending an extender, meant to adjust backup length in fractioned set ups, and soft thimbles.
The backup extender was sewn with a bigger loop, thinking on a simpler connection through Girth hitch.
The Soft Thimbles, is a little loop made with thick, sturdy webbing, meant to avoid cinching down sewn loops, when used with soft shackles and even quicklinks. That allows to retain the strength of the loop in a easy, handy way.
The Soft Thimble idea was designed by , which always amazes me with their gear and awesome ideas.
