It was extremely challenging for us to choose a design to put into production. ⁠

The submissions we received for our design contest were simply stellar. ⁠
⁠
We made sure to sample most of the ones that we thought could work with our materials and can't say how happy we were to connect with so many individuals who also were keen to support our small business and shared our interest in sustainable, ethical production practices. Thanks again! ⁠

Among all the submissions we received, one design stood out in how well it fits with the materials and skill set of our artisans. ⁠
⁠
Shout out to Peruvian designer Tamara Basurto for designing "The Mango" - a simple, versatile bag made out of only scrap leather. ⁠
⁠
The lack of zippers or other metal accessories of this design helps us provide stable employment for our artisans and doesn't require us to import any unsustainable materials. ⁠
⁠

We owe you an update.

Earlier this week we said we would announce the winner of our bag design competition and showcase the design that we will be producing.

Our workshop is swamped and our team is working through the weekend to put together several samples from designs received from our finalists.

It’s a work in BIG progress, but also looking very promising and we are more excited than a bundle of puppies.

We won’t leave you hanging for long though! Stay tuned.

We often lose sight of what's in right front of us because we are either looking behind us or thinking about what's to come.

While we've got big dreams at Borsaye, we would like to take a moment out of our day to pause and enjoy where we are now.

We are just a small business run by a few friends living on all sides of the world (how cool is that?!) and we are grateful for having come together with a common interest in helping out a community while keeping the environment in mind.

We may never make it to the "big leagues" and don't have the deep pockets that many of our competitors do for advertising, but are enjoying each of the steps that we are taking now and would like to make a shoutout to all the other little guys out there!
