🇪🇹 Discover the Story of Ethiopia at the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum

A visit to the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum is one of the best ways to understand Ethiopia’s remarkable history and enduring spirit.

The museum commemorates the historic Battle of Adwa in 1896, where Ethiopian forces united under the leadership of Emperor Menelik II and regional leaders from across the country to defeat the invading Italian army. The victory secured Ethiopia’s independence and became a powerful symbol of resistance and freedom across Africa and beyond.

Standing proudly at the entrance are the statues of Emperor Menelik II and Empress Taytu Betul. While Menelik led the united Ethiopian forces, Empress Taytu was one of the most influential figures of the Adwa campaign. A skilled political leader and strategist, she strongly supported resistance against Italian expansion, helped mobilize resources and forces, and played an important role in the decisions that contributed to Ethiopia’s historic victory at Adwa.

Visitors will also find the 0 km Reference Point, the official benchmark from which distances are measured across Addis Ababa and Ethiopia.

With its impressive architecture, historical exhibitions, and powerful stories, the Adwa Victory Memorial Museum offers a fascinating journey into Ethiopia’s past and the people who helped shape its future.

📍 A highly recommended stop for anyone visiting Addis Ababa and wishing to learn more about Ethiopia’s history, culture, and national identity.

መልካም ፋሲካ - Melkam Fasika 🤍🌿
May this season bring renewal, peace, and togetherness to you and your loved ones.

…we would like to share a little bit more with you.

🌿 Palm Sunday (Hosanna) – The Beginning of Holy Week
One week before Fasika, Ethiopians celebrate Palm Sunday – “Hosanna.”

It marks the arrival of Jesus into Jerusalem, where people welcomed Him by laying down palm branches — a symbol of peace, honor, and hope.

In Ethiopia, this tradition comes to life beautifully:
🌿 Palm leaves are blessed in church
🌿 They are woven by hand into crosses, rings, crowns, and jewelry
🌿 Children and adults wear them throughout the day

These handcrafted pieces are not just decorative — they carry meaning:
✨ Protection
✨ Faith
✨ Connection to tradition

A simple palm leaf becomes a powerful symbol of belief and identity.

From Hosanna to Fasika, Ethiopia carries such authentic and deeply rooted Easter tradition.

Fasika – Ethiopian Easter – is one of the most meaningful and deeply spiritual celebrations in Ethiopia.

After 55 days of fasting, communities gather in churches late into the night.
Dressed in white, carrying candles, prayers fill the air until midnight — the moment of resurrection.

And then… celebration begins.

Families come together to break the fast with traditional dishes like doro wat, injera, fresh bread — sharing moments that are as nourishing as the food itself.

Fasika is more than a holiday — it is about:
✨ Renewal
✨ Faith
✨ Togetherness
✨ Gratitude

A time where spirituality, culture, and community come together.
