Save your spot for The Pulse of Design, an evening of insight, conversation, and connection in 20 August. Part honest reflection, part reunion, and part chance to reconnect, the event brings together design professionals, researchers, industry leaders, and students to explore the current state of design in Finland.

The latest Ornamo Pulse research provides a comprehensive snapshot of the design sector, covering employment, income, entrepreneurship, market conditions, and future outlooks. The findings reveal key shifts and emerging opportunities shaping the profession.

The Big Talk
A candid, no-spin panel discussion hosted by designer Zeynep Falay on why design teams are being reduced, what organizations expect from design today, and how the discipline can continue to create meaningful value.

Tänä vuonna Suomen New Yorkin kulttuuri-instituutin residenssiohjelmassa on ensimmäistä kertaa mukana muotisuunnittelijoille suunnattu haku. Ohjelmaan valitaan yksi suunnittelija tai työpari.
Residenssi avaa kiinnostavan mahdollisuuden työskennellä yhdessä maailman keskeisimmistä muodin keskuksista sekä luoda yhteyksiä paikallisiin verkostoihin, oppia uutta ja edistää omaa työtä kansainvälisesti. Muodin residenssin mentorina toimii palkittu suunnittelija Ervin Latimer, joka tuo näkökulmaa New Yorkin ja kansainvälisen muodin kentältä.
Muodin lisäksi ohjelmassa ovat mukana myös kuvataiteen ja arkkitehtuurin haut. Visuaalisten taiteilijoiden residenssi toteutetaan yhteistyössä Pioneer Works -yhteisön kanssa ja arkkitehtuurin residenssi The Cooper Union -yliopiston yhteydessä. Ornamon nimeämänä edustajana instituutin säätiön hallituksessa toimiva taiteilija ja julkisen taiteen päällikkö Outi Turpeinen kannustaa hakijoita aktiivisuuteen. Hän on innoissaan residenssin tarjoamista mahdollisuuksista ikonisessa kaupungissa, jolla on samalla haastava maine. Myös poliittisen ilmapiirin muutos näkyy ja tuntuu myös New Yorkissa.
”New York, jos sinne haluaa – se vaatii työtä. Jos kaupungin mahdollisuudet kiinnostavat, suosittelen olemaan itse aktiivinen. Hakemuksissa painavat hyvät kuvat, kiinnostavat projektit ja se, miten ne sopivat yhteistyökumppaneiden toimintaan. New York on kiistatta yksi maailman kulttuurin keskuksista ja siellä riittää mahdollisuuksia suomalaisille.”
Viime vuosina Nykin residenssitoimintaa on kehitetty vahvemmin kohti paikallisiin verkostoihin kiinnittymistä. Suomen New Yorkin kulttuuri-instituutti on osa Suomen kansainvälistä tiede- ja kulttuuri-instituuttien verkostoa. Sen taustalla ovat Ornamo, Suomen Taiteilijaseura ja Suomen Arkkitehtiliitto.
