As Chairperson of the Constitutional Offices Commission, I confirm that the Commission will meet on the week of 29th April 2024.

I requested a meeting as soon as possible, however due to the upcoming Parliament Sitting and the parliamentary workshops on the following week, we will only be able to meet on the week of 29th April 2024. This is to ensure that the Leader of Opposition, his nominee and all members of the Commission can attend the meeting.

In accordance with due process and the rules of natural justice, all complaints against Constitutional Officers will be dealt with by the Commission and the officers in question will be given opportunity to respond before the Commission makes any further decision in accordance with the Constitution.

With regard to the review of salaries of constitutional officers, the Commission has appointed a committee to review salaries.

Once the Commission meets this month, decisions made will be announced.

I have been informed that some irresponsible individuals are spreading malicious and false information in the community, and on social media in relation to existing titles, leases and contracts in relation to state land.

As Prime Minister, I want to state categorically and for the record, that such rumors are false.

I want to assure tenants on these parcels of land, do not panic, do not allow these rumor-mongers to stop you from cultivating your farm, making a new investment or extending your existing investment.

The State will honor all existing titles and will honor its lease agreement with you, full stop.

The People’s Coalition Government will ensure that all laws, existing titles and leases on land will continue to be upheld and we ask that those who spreading this rumors to stop their malicious rumor-mongering.

Decision on lease renewals, etc will be carried out only after extensive consultations and in accordance with due process of the law.
