The Napapijri journey starts in 1987 in the shadow of Europe’s highest peak, the Monte Bianco, where an Italian manufacturer of travel bags introduced a new sensibility to outdoor apparel, combining innovative materials with close attention to style. Today, the premium casual wear brand looks back to the great expeditions of the last century and the intrepid explorers who transformed their lives i

nto unique journeys that inspired mankind. Napapijri is a variation of the Finnish word for the Arctic Circle and the logo, half positive and half negative, expresses the North and South Poles in graphic form. The Norwegian flag is closely linked to the brand's DNA, representing Europe’s northernmost country, the birthplace of some of the great explorers of the 20th century as well as a land of extreme conditions and magnificent landscapes.

We’re starting our journey with Solaris, a true Italian excellence in sailing, where craftsmanship meets performance at sea.
At the Solaris Cup in Porto Rotondo, nearly 70 boats and an international community come together, on the water and ashore.
Napapijri’s presence aligns seamlessly with the Solaris Cup’s ethos, technical excellence on the water, authentic connections ashore, and a shared appreciation for design, performance, and lifestyle.

Anorak Reforged | The art and the artist

Nicola Bortoletto (VEINS BOOKS) reinterprets the Rainforest Anorak through an archival collage approach inspired by synthetic cubism. Using imagery from rare books, medieval studies, and auction catalogs, the garment becomes a wearable moodboard. Historical references and gothic imagery overlap in transparent layers, creating a visual armour rich in dedicated research.

Edoardo Benaglia connects the protective function of contemporary outerwear with the symbolic language of ancient armour. The composition features four heraldic emblems reinterpreted through gestural, time-worn marks. Rather than celebrating martial logic, these symbols evoke the universal values of protection, belonging, and resistance – perfect companions for the everyday urban journey.

Encountering horse armour for the first time sparks a sense of alienation: in the blind context of war, protecting an animal actually means safeguarding a strategic asset. Martina Bracchi and Stole Stojmenov use this initial impression as the foundation for their customization, exploring the thin, utilitarian line between care and extreme functionality.

Graphic designer Anna Chiara Te***ne transforms the anorak into emotional armour: an intimate, porous shell rejecting the idea of strength as mere performance. The garment becomes a personal manifesto meant to be read over the heart. In uncertain times, it’s an urban invitation to embrace vulnerability, celebrating care as true resistance.

Anorak Reforged | The art and the artist

Asata reinterprets ancient chainmail by fusing armour heritage with contemporary activewear. Matte silver orbs and dark chrome details deconstruct traditional defenses, replacing small metal rings with solid, flat discs. The result is a highly decorative, visually striking anorak designed for the urban explorer seeking both ultimate protection and standout style.

Through the “Malatempora” project, Zano turns the Napapijri anorak into genuine contemporary armour. Every single brushstroke, meticulously applied by hand, becomes a shield against adversity. The anorak acts as a manifesto of visual resistance: an artistic, metropolitan refuge designed to weather not just rain and wind, but life’s darkest emotional storms.

Tattoo artist Martin Hiliebrand envisions the anorak as armour meant to be worn, not merely exhibited. Translating his craft onto fabric, two dragons rest on the shoulders, serving as guardians and offering ultimate protection. At the center lies the kanji for war, engraved like a skin-deep seal: its 13 strokes mirror the XIII arcanum of the tarot, Death. In this design, it represents not an end, but rather a transformative force that pushes through conflict.

Om mani padme hum. Traced on Himalayan rocks, this sacred mantra is the protection prayer Sherpas recite before every climb. Filippo Marselli translates this ritual into an urban context through hand-drawn lettering. The prayer wraps around the anorak, transforming it into conceptual armour bridging extreme exploration and metropolitan life.

Anorak Reforged | The art and the artist

The Evropa collective (Martina Rizzieri, Elena Finardi, Anna Patricelli) reimagines the Rainforest Anorak through the visual language of armour. Inspired by the Rancati archive’s sculptural helmets and shoulder pieces, they integrate glossy black nylon elements. The result is a protective artifact blending metallic aesthetics with outerwear, suspended between cinematic fantasy and daily exploration.

Edoardo Bus offers a reinterpretation of classical Greek military iconography through the softness of fabric. Historical elements like the Corinthian helmet, xiphos sword, and pteruges skirt are isolated and reconstructed in textile form. The anorak assumes the role of the thorax, becoming the central structure for this new urban defense.

Historically, symbolic motifs on armour conveyed identity and status, going far beyond pure defense. Inspired by this tradition, Nefeli Maroulakis transforms outerwear into a canvas rich in narrative. Cord applications create embossed motifs and three-dimensional effects, echoing the intricate, ornamental detailing of ancient cuirasses for the modern explorer.

With “The Plastic Knight,” Manfredi Montalto reflects on urban protection: city armour defends by confusing. The classic chainmail becomes an interwoven, iridescent, and reflective canvas, multiplying streetlights, car beams, and sudden flashes. The metropolitan explorer blends in, disappearing behind every refraction scattered across their shoulders and chest.
