I hope everyone is enjoying the summer!

This season has been a hard time in some regions. First floods in central Europe and now forests burning in the southeast of Europe. Some have got the summer unexpectedly warm and some rainy and gray.

Recent studies tell that we have to become climate neutral latest by 2050. Otherwise, we can not achieve the limit of 1.5 degrees Celcius temperature rise. As we know, if the average temperatures rise more, we are in big trouble. There is a need for a very radical change in our consumption behavior.

Learning to reuse the already existing raw materials is a new challenge and opportunity for the industry. But it is also a pleasant change for all handcrafters and artisans. At my atelier, I focus on working with recycled materials.

I made the skirt out of 3 different home textile fabrics and hand-painted it. The top is a non-curing hi-tech material from Italy. All made in Bidart, France.

I went for a lunch break surf today. The amount of trash swimming next to me was pretty was annoying. I kept collecting the floating pieces in my wetsuit and attaching them to my board leash.

I saw recently how the ladies were making the designs on the home textile during the last century. Those crafty women bought ready-made patterns from Paris. They carefully copied the motives first with the transfer paper on a baking paper. Then after from baking paper on the airy linens and fine cotton. This preparation must have cost days before they even could start with embroidery and hand crochet.

It has been such a pleasure to find some of these treasures for my upcycling project. The materials may have lost their attraction as home textiles, but I have transformed them into beautiful wearable pieces.

And sure, my Etsy shop for these pieces is coming. Hope next week I can share the news.

Sun is shining! The first steps to the new normal are due in 2 days here in France. I keep my fingers crossed that all goes well to get a great summer with fewer regulations.

My hand-made upcycling line is back from a shooting trip. Thanks to Kristian's great photos and beautiful model Zoe the shots become nice, right!

Line hangs with some brand-new pieces in our workroom and waits to get online. The next step is to build an online Shop.

Today, I pose a critical question. What is the value of handcraft? How much are we ready to pay for something handmade?

I made the dress here out of an exclusive hand embroidered table wear. We cannot count the hours that have been used for the original embroidery as it must be weeks, if not months. My part of the work, finding the material, cleaning the cloth, figuring the design, cutting the piece, hand embroidering, and iron is transparently reportable. I needed four full working days to make it ready. With French minimum salary+ social cost, it makes for work only about 460 €.

If I allow myself a bit more than the minimum salary, add the material cost and treatment cost, the photo shooting cost, and VAT, the price is 960€ when sold directly for the consumer.

Do we value handwork enough to pay the price needed?

How is your sustainable business look? Yes, I know the whole world is still an in-home office and wears only jogging pants. But it will end one day, right!

I work on a new line of pieces made of gorgeous handmade home textiles. What is the better direction: business, leisure, or party outfits? What would be an upcycled made in France product you would buy?

I could not prevent my frustration last summer. Summer was hot and ocean water was too. In my shorty wetsuit, I was sweating, and swimwear was not a solution for my figure. Pieces that I found were in looks that fitted best for epicene surfer girls and not for 50 plus ladies with curves. There was nothing for my age or style. My innovation project started.

After more than 20 steps of product development and testing, I proudly present the versatile piece with a feminine wrap-opening suit without zippers!

Today it is time to launch a made-to-order test program of the surf suit. The first orders will be ready to ship at the end of June 2021. The size range is from 30 to 44. Oeko Tex certified material of the body is a recycled polyamide with elastane.

Anyone is interested in purchasing one of the 50 first test pieces, let us be in contact. By the way, this piece is perfect also for stand-up paddling, water gymnastics, diving, and going to a party directly from the water.

Upcycling and recycling of raw materials are so fascinating. There are so many ways to use the Textile leftover and 'Sleeping Stocks'! We used a 1960s table cloth to make a unique summer dress.
