Behind the Scenes: a designer's favourite

A quick mirror selfie as a note to self - this is one of my favorite (and most flattering!) outfits from my personal collection. The top and skirt are both my designs, and I love how they come together.

Notice the side split detail on the skirt? It’s all about the movement and the subtle elegance it adds. This look needs to be in the shop, because if I love wearing it this much, I know you will too.

I love this basket, but the handles had started to fray after years of constant use (and very possibly overloading it) and then finally they broke, despite my improvised repair. So I thought I’d try a new repair service offered in Lagrasse by Vincent Wadoux of Wadoux Cuir.

I think most of you know him as the leather man in the market place (although he’s a very good musician as well!). A new French policy to encourage people to repair and reuse shoes and bags has been funding the training for those who wish to take part. Vincent was one of them. I took my basket to see if it would be possible to repair it.

I love the new look with its beautiful long leather handles (of course you could have shorter ones but the original design was long). It’s transformed the basket while keeping the essence of the design and giving it a second life.

Hand-Painted Vintage Linens
