Good moaning..." 👨‍✈

If you know, YOU KNOW! 😂

Zimbabwean TV gave us some absolute gems, and Allo Allo was definitely one of them.
From René and his endless antics at the café, to Edith’s unforgettable singing, and of course Mimi, Yvette, and Officer Crabtree’s legendary “Fronch”. This show had us all in stitches!

Which character had you laughing the most?

Was it:

René, the charming (and permanently flustered) café owner?

Edith, his not-so-talented wife?

Yvette or Mimi, the Resistance girls with flair?

Michelle, who was always speaking from a secret location?

Officer Crabtree and his epic “Good moaning”?

Herr Flick, the awkward Gestapo man?

Lieutenant Gruber with his little tank and big crush?

Or General von Klinkerhoffen, the grumpy one in charge?

Tag a friend who used to watch this with you and tell us your favourite scene or catchphrase!

No prizes just yet, but if you’re loving these ZTV throwbacks, drop a YES comment and we’ll keep ‘em coming. We’ve got more retro gems on the way, and if the love keeps flowing, we’ll bring in some trivia games and giveaways soon too!

Too nice!

P.S. If this gave you warm fuzzy Zim feels, head over to www.ZimXcite.com and check out the merch!

🇿🇼 Zimbabwe @ 45!

Zimbabwean Independence isn’t just a date. It’s a journey.

A journey of pride, pain, potential… and power!

This image says it all. ZimXcite, rising above the majestic Victoria Falls. One of the wonders of the world, because our culture is a wonder. A treasure. A force. A vibe 🔥

ZimXcite was born to carry that energy forward.
To remind us that identity, joy, humour, colour, and Ubuntu still matter, and the world needs that medicine now more than ever.

Over time, I’ve come to believe that so many Zimbabweans living across the globe are like quiet starseeds, planted in unexpected places, each carrying a spark of something deeply human ✨

It’s not about being perfect or having it all figured out.
But again and again, I’ve seen Zimbos bring warmth, laughter, humility, and groundedness into spaces that desperately need it.

In a time when the world feels heavy, maybe our gift is presence.
In a time of division, maybe it’s connection.
And in a time of confusion, maybe it’s that soul-level knowing that Ubuntu still matters.

That’s the energy ZimXcite is here to celebrate.

Whether you grew up in Zimbabwe or carry its magic in your spirit, this is for you.

Here’s to independence that includes everyone 🌍

And to a Zimbabwe we can be proud to wear on our sleeves, and lift high into the skies.

Take a moment to explore the latest ZimXcite designs.fashion infused with culture, memory, and meaning.
Every piece is a thread in the story we’re still writing together.

Happy Birthday, ZimXcite! 🥳

Born during the 2020 lockdown as a spark of hope and heritage, ZimXcite was my way of reconnecting to home, and reminding us that culture is power. It started as a small flame during a dark time, and today, it’s a growing fire lighting up hearts around the world.

ZimXcite isn’t just about clothing. It’s about the vibe, the memory, and the spirit of Zimbabwean people, wherever we are on this planet. From old-school ZTV jingles to the rhythm of colloquial slang, from bright fabrics to deep values like Ubuntu, we carry something magical.

The world needs more of that now.

So here’s to ZimXcite’s next chapter...

Spreading Zimbabwean joy, resilience, and togetherness like spiritual stardust. Whether you’re Zimbo or not, this movement is for anyone who believes in connection, culture, and community.

🎉 To celebrate, we’re offering you a special look at our latest collection. Head to our website now and treat yourself to a little piece of Zimbabwean magic. You deserve it. 💫

This is my friend Rick Cosnett and fellow Zimbabwean. Rick is a Hollywood actor, writer and producer. I am glad we managed to meet up before I left LA despite his busy schedule since my focus on this US trip is to network and catch up with friends.

We managed to fit in a morning coffee before I headed across town to sing at a thriving plant nursery in Venice which was an intriguing yet grounding place to perform after so long.

Rick is one of those genuinely nice guys and I am excited for what his already successful acting career has in store moving forwards. You may have seen him in shows such as The Vampire Diaries, Quantico, The Flash, 911, NCIS and Palm Royale.

Here's a toast to all the talented Zimbabweans around the world bringing their gifts to the various industries out there. Keep believing and keep leaning into possibilities 🇿🇼

I am currently in Arizona keeping a low profile as I gear up for my next chapter which takes me to Music City aka Nashville Tennessee ✌🏽😎🎸

Stay tuned for more news and yes, Arizona is hot! In the mid 40s temperature-wise and to think I started the year in Icelandic snow storms, which was actually super healing by the way ❄️☃️

The year of the Dragon continues to unfold 🔥

Zimbabweanisms

Happy Independence Day Zimbabwe.

As I sit here in chilly Iceland, watching the snow outside fall in what looks like a black and white scene from inside a toasty snow globe (thanks goodness for indoor heating), I am thinking to myself…

You can take the Zimbabwean out of the country but you can’t really take the Zimbabwe out of the person! Haha!

So I’m like… what random things makes a Zimbabwean?

Here are some ideas that came up.

How many of these are you guilty of?

What are other Zim quirks you can think of?

Let us know in the comments.

— — — — — —

You Know You Are Zimbabwean Because…

1. You Hoard Plastic Bags In Your Kitchen Cupboard Or Drawer
2. When Disaster Strikes, Before Anyone Can Ask “What Happened?” You Are Already Finding A Solution By “Making A Plan!” *
3. You Have A Torch, Lighter Or Matches In Your Pocket At Any Given Time
4. You Understand The Difference Between Just Now & Now Now *
5. You Feel Guilty When Cars Stop For You At A Zebra Crossing
6. You Call Traffic Lights “Robots” *
7. When You Hear The Words Cream Soda, You Think Of The Colour Green.
8. When You Meet People From Your Country You Ask Them What High School They Went To.
9. You Use Dairibord or Lyons Maid Ice Cream Tubs As Tupperware!

I believe Zimbabweans have a very special kind of culture which adds something unique to the communities that they inhabit.

Keep spreading the good vibes wherever you are and here’s to wishing you a healthy and happy 2024.

As a first-generation Zimbabwean, I've felt the unity and chaos of our journey. Imagine a Thanksgiving table filled with joy and abundance, which suddenly disperses in panic, leaving behind a bare, rickety table. This is our story. One of separation yet shared experiences, no matter where we've settled: the UK, Scandinavia, Spain, the US, Australia, New Zealand, Cyprus, or our beloved Zimbabwe.

I have had the privilege of meeting up with fellow Zimbabweans in all of these places when on my travels.

Despite our global dispersion since Zimbabwe's independence in 1980, our spirit remains unbroken. Today, I celebrate Zimbabweans worldwide for their resilience, African optimism, and various contributions to their communities.

To all Zimbabwean entrepreneurs, I invite you to join our new Facebook group, the Zimbabwean Entrepreneurs Network (ZEN) by ZimXcite. Let's network, collaborate, and support each other, fostering businesses that embody the strength of our homeland.

Together, we can change lives.

Alone we survive. Together, we thrive!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Ryan
