I always say your vibe attracts your tribe and that’s exactly what happened to me the other week when beautiful soul and street style film photographer snapped me in this first shot. We then ended up having a little impromptu shoot when I said- “hold on! The jacket isn’t even buttoned right!!” He was shooting film so I figured he would only take 1 more but he proceeded to snap about 8 more and offered me a print. I honestly wasn’t feeling that great that morning so decided to dress up and that day completely turned around. I wouldn’t say fake it until you make it but at least for me the outfit can carry me when I’m not completely my best and bring the magic ❤️ thank you for the beautiful moment and for the reminder :)

Happy Chinese New Year! 🧧 so excited to welcome the year of the snake 🐍 as apparently it’s an auspicious year for oxes like myself. This year I reflect on a very full circle moment as I write and illustrate my book with watercolor drawings. Funny how life comes in waves and circles. My grandmother was actually born in Harbin, China as my great grandparents were refugees from Russia after having been imprisoned after WW1. They made a life in China for 4 years, had 2 children, even survived a plague that swept the region. This necklace im wearing is the necklace they brought to Seattle from Harbin. But what is even more cyclic in nature is that I read that my great grandfather was able to buy fake papers to excape his prison camp after selling enough watercolor painted playing cards…. And when he arrived in Harbin all he had was a little money and his small paint set. When I read this in our family history book recently I was stunned. When I moved to shanghai I found a drawing club and found watercolors and fell in love. Let this year be a year of following intuition and flow . ❤️❤️🧧🧧🐍🐍🐍

One of the millions of moments magic I’ve witnessed while living in New York for over 10 years. This city is so alive and if you look up you’ll see the magic in the mundane. Happy Chinese New Year! I am excited to enter the year of the Tiger and depart my year of the Ox. The evil spirits definitely followed me around, as is customary when you are in your year, and I am ready for an invigorating year. The lunar calendar holds a special place in my heart and I’ve always felt a deep connection to China. So many beautiful memories and friendships have been forged there and I am so grateful for my personal and professional time spent there.
