Contrasts... feminine and masculine. Traditional and contemporary. Black and white... Trigère!

The Equinox Cape Dress, true to Maison's legacy and timeless style in evening wear, is a black-tie pièce de résistance, thanks to its sculptural silhouette.
The dramatic two-toned draped volant in black and white makes this classic dress chic yet memorable.

The Equinox dress is a part of our limited-edition FW 21 Collection. Click the link in the bio to discover the collection👉

And if Deneuve is a connoisseur of style through a fashion lens, jewelry naturally fits in her legacy as well. Deneuve—who harbours a love of more delicate stones and designs, rather than large, bolder pieces—has been a collector of jewels throughout her career and life, and not just because of their beauty or importance to finishing off an ensemble. Thanks to having family members in the gem industry, Deneuve can diagram a diamond and knows the ancient way to carry loose gems: folded in paper. She has been known to speak knowledgeably of and don Boucheron, Chaumet, and Harry Winston, and she has collected personal pieces from French maison Cartier that she adored wearing over the years, including an nearly 27-carat Colombian emerald necklace and her Baignore timepiece that she was consistently photographed wearing.

Deneuve was known for her mod and chic style, which perfectly captured French flair that was alight during the 1960s. Chic, A-line shift dresses; perfectly teased hair with headbands; and p***y bow blouses defined the blond bombshell's look and made her the standard for the effortless and iconic French phrase je ne sais quoi.

How Fashion Icon Catherine Deneuve Helped Establish Our French Style Obsessions

French actress and cultural icon Catherine Deneuve was a regular on the silver screen during the 1960s and '70s and in high demand by directors like Roman Polanski. Deneuve had emphatically effortless French style on and off the screen, embracing '60s trends and opting for designers including Yves Saint Laurent and Trigère. Throughout her filmography, Deneuve often portrayed untouchable femme fatales. During the '60s, this was embodied by sharply mod style, rather than the vampy vixens of the '30s. Deneuve defined this modern woman, wearing a-line shifts, p***y bow blouses, and accessorizing with an arsenal of chic hats.

HENRI MATISSE / THE CUT-OUTS During the last decade of his life Henri Matisse deployed two simple materials—white paper and gouache—to create works of wide-ranging color and complexity. An unorthodox implement, a pair of scissors, was the tool Matisse used to transform paint and paper into a world of plants, animals, figures, and shapes. The cut-outs were created in distinct phases. The raw materials—paper and gouache—were purchased, and the two materials combined: studio assistants painted sheets of paper with gouache. Matisse then cut shapes from these painted papers and arranged them into compositions. For smaller compositions the artist worked directly on a board using pins. For larger compositions, Matisse directed his studio assistants to arrange them on the wall of his studio. Subsequently, cut-outs were mounted permanently, either in the studio or in Paris by professional mounters.
