Guests joined Le Monde Béryl last night for an evening to begin their 10th Anniversary celebrations and to open their residency at 62 South Audley Street. Coinciding with the Mount Street Neighbourhood Summer Festival and London Gallery Weekend, a handcrafted wood speaker stack display
unit designed by Max Bellhouse housed an exclusive new collection of Venetian Slippers.

During this summer’s festival luxury shoe label .monde.beryl will begin a series a global activations to mark their first decade in business beginning with a pop-up residency at 62 South Audley Street. It will feature an exclusive capsule of limited edition Venetian Slippers - including a classic slipper and mule rendered in signature materials, such as mesh, crystals or suede, in colours including grey, mustard and rose - alongside a bespoke wood speaker installation created by Max Bellhouse. Founded by Lily Atherton Hanbury and Katya Shyfrin in 2016, the brand has built its foundations and collections upon Italian craftsmanship, artisanal principles and a design language that revolves around highly specific fabrication combinationsand palette alongside recurring visual codes, inspired by multi-disciplinary and cultural practices. The brand’s evolution has developed around its central philosophy: Beauty in Movement.

Lily Atherton Hanbury’s Guide to Venice.

As part of our travel series, and in celebration of the upcoming Venice Biennale, Le Monde Béryl’s creative director and co-founder Lily Atherton Hanbury reveals some of her favourite spots, from galleries to restaurants, in Italy’s floating city.

“Venice is one of my favourite citie, and it was actually at the Biennale where the idea for Le Monde Béryl was ultimately conceived, so it is of course particularly close to us,” says Atherton Hanbury. “We make our shoes in Veneto, which is a region steeped in the history of Italian craft and artisanal practice. It represents the best quality in shoe making and this reverence of craft runs through our design process. I often pass through Venice on my visits to the workshops. As a destination, it is a brilliant juxtaposition of new ideas, art and fashion that come out of centuries of cultural patina.”

Inspiration: Sous la Chaussure (Under the Shoe, 1967, by Domenico Gnoli. Side note: Gnoli created the stage sets for Shakespeare’s As You Like It, directed by Robert Helpmann and performed at the Old Vic Theatre in London in 1955. Prada Foundation gave him a show in 2022 in Milan showcasing work between 1949-1969.
