This page is to show my work with bags and accessories, as well as some items for interior decoration. All products are handmade by me and most of them are one of a kind and/or part of small series. The prints on the fabric are original and exclusive, hand painted by me or with craft techniques. I have always worked in fashion decoration and accessories. I am especially sensitive to materials, and
I like to mix and match to create associations that are not always obvious. I love working with shapes and volumes. As a self-taught designer, my curiosity and my desire to progress ever since I started, made me attend various courses and trainings in all the different places where I lived. I started painting on fabric in 1988 during an internship at Maria Teresa Vieira in Rio de Janeiro, where I lived and worked for almost ten years. Back in France in 1992, I went to Paris to attend a course at the school "Espaces et Matieres", where I learnt new techniques and how to create designs for prints in the textile industry. My interest always goes out to the contact with the materials and craft techniques, where we can always perceive the human intervention. That is why I created in 1994 a new collection of hand painted cotton and linen, and went to sell it on Ibiza. Once there, I decided to settle down and opened my first shop "Pan con tomate", followed in 1997 by a second in Barcelona, "Mapamonde". In both shops the collections were focused on items for interior design, like cushions, curtains, large coverlets for bed and sofa, always with some hand painted designs or details to make them exclusive. In 2005 I came to live in The Netherlands, where I work in the fashion accessories industry. To create is part of my life, and since 2012 I have started a new collection. This time my interest is focused on accessories, at the moment mostly bags. I have created Patrick Saumade Creation in 2013. (www.pscreationdesign.com)
With the aim of developing this work, I have started now a course at the "Leerlokaal" in Arnhem where I'm learning different techniques on how to work with leather.
