Swipe for some of the things clients have said to me recently during decluttering and organising projects that will stay with me.

These moments stay with me because they’re a reminder that organising is rarely just about the physical space.

It’s about how people feel in their homes, how they move through their day and how much easier life feels when things start working better around them.

And that never gets old!

The ‘ber months have officially arrived... 🍂
You know what that means.

Cosier evenings, darker mornings, digging out the warmer clothes and, apparently, trying to remember where you put that really important document you definitely put somewhere safe last winter. 😂

September always feels like a bit of a gear change.

Diaries get busier, routines return and suddenly there are forms, appointments, renewals and dates to remember again.

So this is your little reminder to make life easier for yourself.

Give important paperwork one permanent home.
Passports. Insurance documents. Certificates. House paperwork. Anything you know you’ll need again.

It doesn’t have to be a beautifully labelled filing system with matching folders.

It just needs to be somewhere that makes sense to you and somewhere you’ll remember when you need it!

A few simple systems now can save a LOT of searching later.

Sometimes the best way to make sure life happens is to put it in the diary. 🤍

I have loved Lord of the Dance since I was little and have been lucky enough to see every tour over the years, so when I spotted they were coming to Aberdeen, there was no hesitation. Tickets booked!

It also gave me the perfect excuse to ask Mum and Dad down for the night and make an evening of it together.

A meal out, a show and then home for a cup of tea afterwards. Nothing particularly complicated, but actually a pretty perfect way to spend time with family.

The atmosphere at the show was brilliant. It perhaps wasn’t my favourite production I’ve seen over the years, but the talent on that stage never fails to blow me away. I honestly don’t know how they do it!

And it got me thinking about how quickly the months can disappear.

I’m just as guilty as anyone of saying, “We should do that,” or “We’ll get something organised soon,” and then suddenly another few weeks have passed.

I’ve realised that if I want these catch-ups and experiences to happen, sometimes I simply need to get them booked and put them in the calendar.

We talk a lot at Clean Slate about making room for the things you love, and for me, this is a big part of it.
It isn’t always about making room in our homes.

Sometimes it’s making room in the diary for a meal with your parents, a show you’ve loved since you were little, a cup of tea afterwards and a proper catch-up.

Nothing groundbreaking.
Just a really lovely evening and another memory made. 💛

If you’ve been dancing around booking something special, take this as your sign to book that thing you’ve been saying you’ll do “soon”.

Never worked with a professional organiser before? This one’s for you.

I completely understand that inviting someone into your home to help you organise and declutter can feel like a big step.

For many of my clients, it’s something they’ve thought about for weeks, months or sometimes even years before they finally send me that first message to enquire.

And naturally, there are usually lots of questions beforehand!

Part of my job is making sure you feel comfortable, supported and know exactly what to expect before we even get started.

Every client is different. Every home is different. And every reason for asking for help is different too.

You might be preparing for a big life change, struggling with an area of your home that just isn’t working, or simply feeling ready to finally tackle something that’s been sitting on your list for far too long.

Whatever has brought you to that point, you don’t need to have everything figured out before getting in touch.

So, I’ve put together some of the things you might be wondering if you’ve never worked with a professional organiser before.

Have a swipe ➡️ and if there’s something I haven’t covered, my inbox is always open.

I’m on the lookout for someone who can give unwanted leather a second life. 👜✨

I used to know someone who repurposed old leather goods beautifully, but she has now hung up her sewing needles, so I’d love to find a new long term contact who can make use of leather that might otherwise go to waste.

It could be offcuts, old bags, belts or other pieces that still have plenty of life left in them and could be turned into something useful again.

If you know someone local who works with leather, repairs it or repurposes it creatively, please tag them below or send me a message.

I’d love to connect and find these gorgeous bags a home!💛

It’s easy to underestimate the impact of the little things.

Knowing exactly where your keys are.
Finding your favourite top first time.
Opening a drawer without having to rummage through it.

None of those moments are life-changing on their own.
But together?

They make mornings feel easier, reduce everyday frustrations, and free up your energy for the things that matter most.

Sometimes organising isn’t about transforming your life overnight.

It’s simply about making today a little easier than yesterday.

C IN THE PARK 2026 🎪💃☔️

Anyone else remember the days of T in the Park?

Well, this summer we put our own spin on it for my lovely friend Claire’s hen do and headed to C in the Park. 😂
And what a day.

Festival outfits were on, the drinks were flowing, the rain made a brief appearance and there was plenty of dancing regardless. Because really, what’s a Scottish festival without getting slightly soaked?

The bridesmaids had thought of everything and it was all the little personal touches that made the day so special.

I talk a lot through Clean Slate about making room for the things you love, and weekends like this are exactly what I mean.

Life gets busy. We all have work, families, homes, appointments and endless things that need doing. Sometimes you need to forget the list, put on the festival outfit and go dancing in the rain with your friends.

And these are the bits I love sharing on here too.
Clean Slate is obviously a huge part of my life, but so are the people, adventures, funny stories and memories that happen around it. They all weave their way into what I do and why I’m so passionate about helping other people make more room in their lives for whatever matters to them.

A very full cup after this one. 💛

Claire, you are very loved and I can’t wait to celebrate the big day with you very soon.
C in the Park 2026, completed it. ✔️

Wooden? Velvet? Plastic? Wire? Matching? Or a complete mixture collected over the last 20 years? 😂

As a professional organiser, I see a LOT of wardrobes, and you’d be surprised how differently we all approach something as simple as a hanger.

Some clients love opening their wardrobe to a perfectly matching row.

Some want slim hangers so they can make the most of the space they have.

Some have very strong opinions about wooden hangers.

And others aren’t too fussed about hangers as long as they can find what they want in the morning!

And actually... that’s the point.

There isn’t one “correct” way to organise a wardrobe.
The best solution is the one that works for you, your clothes and your space not the one social media tells you looks the nicest.

So, we’re having a little fun with this one...
Swipe through and find your hanger personality. ➡️

Then tell me in the comments: which one are you?
