Jo Pott Mercer Clothes Clothes Shop We use the same handloom cotton in two weights, all year round. We use just three colours, Black, Indigo Blue and Natural.

Designed by Ayako Yokoyama from Tokyo and Jo Pott based in North Wales, our clothes are inspiring in their simplicity and detail - using pure fabrics and pure colours. We introduce around ten new designs twice a year to our collection. While introducing the new, we leave some designs behind and carry on with the perennial favourites. Our preference for natural material in a restricted colour palet

te isn’t a rejection of colour, but a celebration of the simplicity of the hand loomed product. Our approach to design is minimalist or reductive. We pare away layers, prints and intricate weaving techniques to see the natural fabric. Our vocabulary of design includes pintuck and pleat, where we use the fabric to decorate itself. Our inspired designs incorporate fabric manipulations, asymetry, and interesting finishings in wooden and coconut buttons. We produce all our clothes in small numbers which makes it impossible to have a catalogue, as soon as its printed, its out of date! We prefer to work offering a personal service. Either our customers visit us here in Bangor, or email what they are looking for, such as a coat, describing size, length and colour, and we are happy to photograph all that we have and email the images. This way we can show off what we design in a way that is specific to our customer. I know this is unusual, but it works! Mercer Clothes have moved across the street to be in Mercer Interiors. We amalgamated the two shops in response to the poor footfall on Bangor High Street, it’s not ideal but we are where we are. We still have beautiful, handmade clothes and accessories and the new layout looks great!

I asked the Director of Bangor who asked GCC and I asked Ardra to please clean the street and pavement after the road works. NO was the deafening response. So we did it ourselves.
