☿🌙 Mercury Retrograde in Cancer: June 29th – July 23rd 🌙☿
Mercury Retrograde is returning, and this time it’s moving through Cancer. Before Mercury officially stations retrograde on June 29th, we enter the pre-shadow period, where themes begin to emerge and clues start appearing. After Mercury turns direct on July 23rd, we move through the post-shadow period, where lessons are integrated and loose ends are finally tied up. Cancer governs home, family, emotional security, memories, ancestry, personal history, and the people we call family. During this retrograde, many of us will find ourselves looking backwards before we can move forwards. Don’t be surprised if an ex suddenly reappears. Don’t be surprised if a family member reaches out after years of silence. Don’t be surprised if old memories, forgotten emotions, unresolved arguments, betrayals, regrets, guilt, or heartbreak resurface. Mercury Retrograde has a reputation for bringing people from the past back into our lives, but the purpose isn’t always reconciliation. Sometimes the purpose is clarity. Sometimes it’s closure. Sometimes it’s simply showing you how much you’ve grown. You may find yourself reflecting on a relationship that broke your trust. Perhaps it was a lover who betrayed you. Perhaps it was a family member whose actions left a wound that never fully healed. Whatever is being triggered now is asking to be acknowledged. Because what is healed no longer haunts you. What is resolved no longer controls your future. And what continues to hurt is often pointing towards something that still requires your attention. Many people believe they miss a person when in reality they’re mourning what that person represented. The financial security. The family home. The lifestyle. The plans. The version of the future they thought they would have. Cancer asks a difficult question: If you removed the house, the money, the comfort, and the stability, would you still have chosen that person? Sometimes the answer is yes. Sometimes the answer is no. And that realisation can be incredibly liberating. This retrograde reminds us that home isn’t always a place. Home isn’t a mortgage. Home isn’t a bank balance. Home isn’t a title. Home is a feeling. It’s the feeling of being accepted. Being understood. Being safe enough to be your authentic self. Being loved through your healing rather than despite it. A true partner doesn’t ask you to stay small so they can remain comfortable. They encourage your growth.
They support your healing. They celebrate your evolution. This Mercury Retrograde is helping us understand the difference between settling with someone and growing with someone. Because those are not the same thing.
✨ Things to remember during Mercury Retrograde:
• Avoid signing major contracts unless necessary.
• Double check emails, messages, and important paperwork.
• Back up computers, phones, and important files.
• Expect travel delays and leave extra time for journeys.
• Have a backup plan wherever possible.
• Avoid rushing into major commitments or life changing decisions.
• Be flexible when technology misbehaves.
Most importantly, be gentle with yourself. The past may return, but not everything that returns is meant to stay. Some people come back so you can finally release them. Some memories return so you can finally understand them.
Some wounds resurface so you can finally heal them. Mercury Retrograde in Cancer is not asking you to go backwards. It’s asking you to understand why you’ve been carrying certain things for so long. Release what no longer feels like home. Keep what nourishes your soul. And trust that what is truly meant for you won’t require you to abandon yourself to receive it.
