I am Christine Boyle - Director & Tutor at Colour and Cloth Ltd based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I inhabit a wonderful world of colour and creativity through my passion for sewing and fashion design. I've been hooked on colour, fabrics, threads, pattern and textures since childhood, learning from the best; my Mum Kathleen Boyle (see page bottom). I watched her sew, knit, crochet and craft for h
er family. She patiently taught me her sewing skills, and to appreciate the beauty of ‘hand-made’. She repaired, darned and mended our clothes, instilling in me at an early age the importance of sustainable sewing and caring for clothes. With over 25 years experience within the Northern Ireland Fashion, Design, Manufacturing and Costume industry, I have taught over 3000 students in colleges, community groups, individual tuition and mentoring. Previous students have followed their dreams into costume, fashion and setting up their own creative ventures. Angeline Murphy who represented Northern Ireland on Season 4 of The Great British Sewing Bee, was one of my dressmaking students. It is my joy and pleasure to continue mum’s legacy and keep this beautiful skill alive by sharing my wealth of knowledge with others, offering quality teaching to my students with professionalism, passion, patience, enthusiasm and encouragement.
