Colour and Cloth Designer. Maker. Teacher.SUSTAINABLE Style + Sewing SEWING CLASSES Ireland & Beyond SEWING on screen Mum taught me to sew when I was six years of age.

I am Christine Boyle - Director & Tutor at Colour and Cloth Ltd based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I inhabit a wonderful world of colour and creativity through my passion for sewing and fashion design. I've been hooked on colour, fabrics, threads, pattern and textures since childhood, learning from the best; my Mum Kathleen Boyle (see page bottom). I watched her sew, knit, crochet and craft for h

er family. She patiently taught me her sewing skills, and to appreciate the beauty of ‘hand-made’. She repaired, darned and mended our clothes, instilling in me at an early age the importance of sustainable sewing and caring for clothes. With over 25 years experience within the Northern Ireland Fashion, Design, Manufacturing and Costume industry, I have taught over 3000 students in colleges, community groups, individual tuition and mentoring. Previous students have followed their dreams into costume, fashion and setting up their own creative ventures. Angeline Murphy who represented Northern Ireland on Season 4 of The Great British Sewing Bee, was one of my dressmaking students. It is my joy and pleasure to continue mum’s legacy and keep this beautiful skill alive by sharing my wealth of knowledge with others, offering quality teaching to my students with professionalism, passion, patience, enthusiasm and encouragement. Welcome to my world of Colour and Cloth.

Cara chose a Vogue jumpsuit for her first ever garment.

Just look at her fabric choice! Cara plans to wear this in New York and also make one for her friend (lucky friend!) This jumpsuit definitely deserves a night out!

Hot if the cutting table is her next project: a cape!

First the all important toile so we can amend any fitting issues and change style lines and shaping if desired.

Looking forward to seeing this one in its real fabric along with the lining and design details!

Always a pleasure to tutor our Advanced students who last night were making capes, children's coats and trousers.

Tina will be wearing her gorgeous green trousers this weekend for a special occasion and I have no doubt she will receive lots of compliments,!

Chrissie and I figured out a welt pocket and Cara twirled in her Cape toile and jazzed it up in her Vogue jumpsuit! (Next post)

Only 2 weeks left of all our courses until the next one's commence in November.

Already selling fast these courses will take us up to 2 weeks before the big C. So lots of time to sew new loungewear or a party frock!

I made new cushions at the weekend!

I love cushions, and although I covered the sofa in lots of them, himself says it looks better with just the two on the sofa!

I say you can't get enough of colour and Cloth...let me know which you prefer!

There is a mix of fabrics from William Morris prints, Game of Thrones costume fabrics to repurposed t-shirts to new velvet fabric from Mad about Fabrics.

I made all my own bias binding and piped the new cushions and zipped up with invisible zips.

The sofa patchwork quilt was made by me about 6 years ago all sewn on my Vintage Singer 201k.

I made all the cushions on it also over the weekend.

Currently feet up and chilling on the sofa!

If you would like to learn how to make your own cushions then head to the website to book the 1-day class 'Design and Create Your Own Cushions'.
