Nicholas Daley now in the shop! Having first met Nicholas around 8/9 years ago it was great to reconnect at a Carhartt WIP event in London late last year. Having graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2013 he launched his inaugural collection in SS15 and has since gained worldwide recognition. In 2019 he was the recipient of the Woolmark Prize semi-final award, he was one of the 8 joint winners of the 2020 LVMH Prize and has received numerous nominations and awards from the BFC and BFA.

His work explores identity and heritage through contemporary menswear with a great influence coming from his parents - his mother being Scottish and his father Jamaican, who together introduced him to a lot of the reference points you can see throughout his collections - be that Scottish fabrics and knitwear, Jamaican suiting and tailoring and of course the music and its sub-cultures. His parents ran one of the first reggae clubs in Scotland in the late 70s/early 80s and the “Reggae Klub” tee is a reproduction of a t-shirt they made at the time.

Over the past ten or so years he’s worked with talent such as Don Letts, Errol Anderson, James Massiah, Nightmares On Wax, Theo Parrish, Sherelle and Nabihah Iqbal and his collaborations span leading brands such as Sub Sun, Carhartt WIP, Fred Perry, Mulberry, Adidas, Nepenthes NY and George Cox.

Our selection is available in the shop and online now with some stand out pieces from the collection including the beautiful green Dobby Stripe Workers Shirt, the classic Black/Green Striped Knit, the George Cox Rebel Derby Shoe and the staple Reggae Klub Tee.

A special mix by none other than DavidHolmes1969 - In between projects such as producing the new Dexy’s album and meeting up with Eric Cantona (a childhood hero of mine! -G), David kindly offered to record a live mix in the store.

This will be our last guest mix for a while as we have decided to concentrate on our own output. What a guest to end it on! Thanks so much David. Enjoy!
