I’m totally in love with crochet linen stitch. Doesn’t it make the colours pop? This square is currently unblocked but is the first in a new blanket 😊

I spent some of last night swatching with Milburn DK, which is just glorious. I had planned to make a massive granny square blanket with all the colours but I’m not keen on the holes, so I’m thinking solid granny square maybe. Thoughts are very welcome

This is the humble beginning of a crochet wave blanket in club. Working up beautifully, I’m looking forward to next the instalment 😀

On this Sunday morning, I thought I show you the glorious texture of this new design. It will be a shawl, and is planned to work with any yarn at any gauge. The texture is I think perfect for those who prefer not to use garter stitch but still want their knits to look interesting.

Today is one of those gloomy Sundays here, so I went stash diving, in deep stash and pulled out these beauties. The greys are Charcoal Ash but from two different dye lots and the teal and burgundy skeins are from in a special edition colour way called Failed Cadbury Bar #13: Fruit & Gnat. All the skeins are merino 4ply.
Together they are going to make the most glorious shawl that will show off their beautiful colours! Look out for updates 😍

BB8 blanket finished in March this year. Knit in Aran yarn, pattern is from with some modifications.

I seem to have a thing for huge blankets this year. There may be a third one on the way at some point - we’re still in negotiations 😂

This is a if there ever was one. I lost track of exactly how many skeins of yarn went into it but all of them came from stash! The request was for a rainbow blanket - I think I met that, right?
It’s so big that I ran out of blocking boards and ended up just pinning it to the carpet 🙈
Pattern is by with some modifications.

Four years ago I took a bit of a mad day trip to visit - about six hours of travel each way on the train and I got to spend the afternoon at the show. It was the busiest yarn show I had ever been to, and I connected with so many makers and dyers that day. I had a blast but my time there was too short so I promised myself I would be back the following year. Sadly it didn’t happen and I’m still waiting for my second visit.
I remember that day fondly - it was crowded but exciting and just a wonderful place to be. I know that yarn shows will return at some point but I wonder how altered they and I will be when life returns to near normal.

More photos to come this week 🤩

Rubbish pictures as it’s dark here, but this afternoon’s work is done for now.
These blanket squares have been knitted for a while now (read at least a couple of years) waiting for blocking and seaming together.
Blocking has finally happened today and sealing will hopefully happen this week.
The hand dyed square will go in the centre with the light blue making a cross around it and the darker blue completing the diagonals.

Tell me which you would use to put them together:
a) slip stitch crochet
b) mattress stitch
c) three needle bind off

Pattern: Dogwood by
Yarn: hand dyed by and solids from - all Aran weight

(Image description: nine blanket squares on blocking mats - a hand dyed blue/green square in the foreground, with light and dark blue solid squares to wards the middle and background of the shot.)
