I started sewing at a young age at my Grandmother’s knee, she was the most accomplished needlewoman I have ever known and the first thing she taught me was to darn my Father’s wool socks. By the time I attended Secondary School, I could knit, crochet and embroider as well as turn a seam by hand and machine and execute a wide range of sewing techniques. I had an amazing needlework teacher at Second
ary School whose encouragement was my making. With her support I made my cousins wedding gown the week I left school, swiftly followed by a coat with the help of an elderly uncle, himself a trained tailor. The sewing machine was always out during my teenage years and has never been far from me since. When my children were little I achieved City and Guilds in dressmaking and pattern making. For 4 years I ran my own bridal shop, where I offered a bespoke service and attended to all the alterations required for the “Off the Peg” gowns. Here I was awarded membership of The Guild of Master Craftsmen, a truly rewarding accolade which obviously I am very proud of. I have attended various courses, classes and workshops since then to expand my knowledge and experience, and a few years ago I graduated from Huddersfield University and have lectured at local colleges. I am CRB checked, and a member of The Institute for Learning. Having my own sewing school has been on my wish list for a few years, and now I can combine two passions, sewing and teaching. With a variety of courses to choose from, I’m sure you will be happy learning with us and I am personally committed to providing a quality service, I will do all I can to meet your expectations. We offer small classes to ensure individual attention in a wide range of courses. Have a look through the site, and if you have any comments or questions, please feel free to contact me. Good luck and thank you!
