One of our most challenging orders of the year came in this week.

On Tuesday evening we were tagged by more than 10 people recommending Hayes Apparel to C'N'D Events, who urgently needed 12 T-shirts and 6 hoodies completed for a Friday booking.

After some back-and-forth on the artwork, we got everything approved and finalised by Wednesday afternoon.

With the deadline now less than a day away, there wasn't enough time to wait for deliveries, so we made the trip to our wholesalers ourselves, loaded up with everything we needed and got straight to work.

The next day was a race against the clock. From artwork preparation and vinyl cutting to pressing and finishing each garment, we worked flat out to make sure the deadline was met.

The order was due for collection at 6pm on Thursday... and we completed it by 5pm. ✅

A huge thank you to everyone who tagged Hayes Apparel and recommended us. Opportunities like this happen because of your support, and we're incredibly grateful for every referral.

A slightly different project completed recently for a very special 60th birthday celebration! 🎉💜

The customer came to us with a couple of inspiration images and asked if we could bring their idea to life for an upcoming cruise with family and friends.

From those ideas, we created a completely bespoke design featuring a custom front print, matching birthday crew shirts and even a personalised tour map on the back showing the cruise route and destinations.

Seeing the finished shirts being worn on the trip was fantastic, but receiving this message afterwards made it even better:

"Lots of people commented on them, even the Captain of the ship said what a great idea it was. We could spot each other easily and people were stopping us to say how great they were."

This is exactly why we love creating personalised clothing. It's not just a t-shirt – it's something that becomes part of the memories.

The reality of running a small clothing business in 2026.

More and more customers compare the price of custom clothing from local businesses to products found on sites like Temu, Shein and other large-scale manufacturers.

What many people don't see is the difference
behind the scenes.

Small businesses pay fair prices for quality garments, printing materials, equipment maintenance, electricity, packaging, software, rent, taxes and wages. We don't order tens of thousands of items at a time, and we don't have factories producing garments around the clock.

Large overseas manufacturers can often sell products at prices that local businesses simply cannot match.

We could cut corners, use cheaper garments and lower-quality prints, but that's not what we're about.

When you buy from a small business, you're supporting local jobs, local families and people who genuinely care about the quality of what leaves their workshop.

Every order, share, recommendation and repeat customer helps keep independent businesses alive.

Really happy with how these came out for Wigan walk and talk 👌🏻 Wigan walk and talk 👏 Lauren Murphy

These were printed onto high quality performance sports tops using stretch vinyl, meaning the print moves and flexes naturally with the fabric instead of feeling stiff.

We also added reflective detailing to help keep walkers visible during evening and night walks when hit with torch light 🔦✨

Front print, large back print, sleeve branding and reflective details all completed in-house by Hayes Apparel.

We were more than happy to support what Wigan Walk and Talk are doing within the community by donating these tops 🤝
