WIN A FREE COPY ... of my soon to be released new pattern called: SNAILS PACE

It's overlay mosaic crochet worked row-by-row with stitch sequences and charts. It does include tapestry / intarsia crochet, so is marked as an Intermediate level pattern.

All you need to do to be in it to win it is join the Craft Pixie Crochet Club and find the competition post. Comment under the post with your answer to the question posed.

Competition closes as 7pm (UK time) on Sunday 10th May 2026. One entry per person. Only comments under the competition post in the Craft Pixie Crochet Club will count. I will randomly draw three people who will receive a Ravelry code to redeem a free copy once the pattern is published (planned for Monday 11th May 2026).

And if you don't win, there will be an exclusive club discount running for a while. The code will only be available for club members, so join today!

My yarn has arrived and this time I've decided to try and make something a bit different - something I can wear! I don't usually make things for myself, as I never like myself in the finished article! This time I'm winging it and designing it as I go. Wish me luck!

And it's becoming Lily's routine: see yarn, sniff yarn, try and eat yarn! Honestly!

I couldn't resist posting this picture of Dougal in the cat bed I've just finished. He barely sits still for a minute, so I count this as a success!

Send help! What can I do with these tiny yarn ends. Please comment below with ideas!

I've tried small granny squares and African flower squares, but I need something that's coherent and will work for a couple of grams to around 10 grams. I'd like to make a charity blanket.

To try and encourage the cats away from my crochet, I thought I'd start on a crochet cat bed! Looks like this may be the way to go, as Lily just can't wait to claim it!

Why Crochet is Good for the Soul!

I have just read a fascinating article about the science behind needlecrafts, and it turns out our love for the crochet is actually great for our health!

The research shows that the repetitive, rhythmic movements we use when crocheting help shift our bodies into a "flow state." This naturally lowers our heart rate and cuts down cortisol (the stress hormone). Scientists are even calling it a "natural antidepressant" because it triggers the release of dopamine and serotonin. So, next time someone says you have "too much yarn," just tell them you’re looking after your mental health!

Beyond the stress relief, following those tricky patterns and feeling the textures of different fibers keeps our brains sharp and can even help manage chronic pain by giving the mind a positive "sensory distraction." Plus, the community we build together, whether online or in person, is a huge factor in fighting loneliness and staying connected.

So don't let anyone put your hobby down. Your hobby is literally doing your body and mind a world of good.

From preventing nail-biting and doomscrolling all the way up to helping people addicted to drugs, knitting can have a surprisingly powerful affect on your brain.

Different cat - today's challenge - try to work on my next design while Lily tries her best to bite the yarn as I use it. She's already managed to tangle up the cream! Hmmmm!
