Loominous Creations Loom knitted, crocheted and other handmade items. The recommended physiotherapy for her hands was boring, to put it mildly. Thus was Loominous Creations born!

OUR STORY

We are a small craft concern based in North Devon specialising in handmade items created on knitting looms as well as crocheted creations. Loom knitting is an unusual craft in the UK and there is an unusual back story...

A few years ago Abbi was seriously injured in a car crash, resulting in nearly 3 months in hospital. Would you fancy squeezing a clothes peg for hours on end? Searchin

g for an activity that would stave off the boredom of a long recovery as well as be good exercise, she discovered knitting looms. The repetitive motion proved to be not only excellent physiotherapy, but also calming and meditative – so much so that Ro took up the craft as well. A hurricane of hats resulted, until we began to experiment with more interesting items. Then came the challenge of what to do with everything before our husbands were completely buried in our woolly wonders. Everything we make is unique. We base our designs on patterns from various sources, but each item is personalised in some way – we have enormous fun choosing yarns and trying out new stitches and techniques! We make items to order and also sell at local craft fairs, and we welcome contacts to discuss requirements in detail. Allow plenty of time for special orders - loom knitting is a slow process and we don’t do it full time, so we can’t produce overnight!

My goodness it's been a while! Our woolies are so warm that no-one wants to buy them in the summer, so we concentrate on Autumn and pre-Christmas markets. But we're still busy in the background and by September we'll have a new colourful range of hats, shawls, scarves and blankets ready to help you through next winter. Meanwhile do get in touch if there's something you'd like us to make for you... :-)

Hellooo we're still here! Mostly just playing away with yarn for our own fun, but occasionally popping our heads up to do the odd craft fayre.

We'll be at Braunton Parish Hall from 10am -12pm on Saturday 25th November, at the next coffee morning in support of Cancer Research UK.

We've been busy making lots of colourful warm hats ready for the chilly days to come. All just £5 each.

So do come along and grab yourself a bargain, and also support this wonderful charity by having a cuppa while you browse the stalls on display! 🧶🍵💖

Another blanket nearly done... Janie Crow's "Eastern Jewels" colour way of the Persian Tiles pattern. I (Ro) assembled the jigsaw whilst watching the Coronation today - "only" the joining and border to do now! 😅

A belated Happy New Year to you all - we've been semi-hibernating for a while, but still yarning away. Something a bit larger to show you today - A Persian Tiles blanket made as a gift so NFS I'm afraid. It shows how a relatively straightforward pattern created by a gifted designer (Janie Crow) when combined with inexpensive yarns can result in a spectacular item. Time to get back to some smaller items now - watch this space!
