𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗧𝗬 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘!

The tennis-fest of 𝗪𝗜𝗠𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗗𝗢𝗡 approaches once again, so of course we have to mark the event with one of our special themed windows in No.30, the ‘Ladies Side’.

With the official colours of the championships being purple and green, we’ve highlighted some of our headwear and accessories (note the boutique brollies) in these hues, or at least trimmed in them.

So whether your heading to SW19 itself, attending a watch party with friends, or simply viewing matches from the comfort of your living room, you can don appropriate headgear and feel part of the proceedings!

Lately landed, more luxury 𝗦𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗠 to whizz off those whiskers in style.

In ‘flavours’ from the ever-popular sandalwood, through its sibling cedarwood, then grapefruit, coconut, rose, almond, peppermint, lavender, lime zest, to***co leaf, and all the way to the exotic oud.

Then there are a few ‘extra luxury’ types if you really want to pamper your pores!

(Of course, these make great little gifts for Fathers Day…)

Arriving in time for the biggest and brightest race meeting of the year, 𝑹𝒐𝒚𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒔𝒄𝒐𝒕, it’s our final consignment of ladies' 𝗙𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗬 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦 and 𝗙𝗔𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗦 of the season.

In stunning straws and pretty parasisals, these beauties come in a fabulous array of colours and delicious designs including some that are exclusive to Snooks.

And, if you’re not going to the races, they’re perfect for civic events, upmarket garden parties, and – of course – weddings.

Just remember to bring your outfit with you to the shop, when making your selection, to ensure the entire ensemble is amazing!

(PS: we even have top hats for the chaps 🎩)

Now that we’re into June, our big event of the month is 𝗥𝗢𝗬𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗧. Running Tuesday 16th – Saturday 20th, this prestige event sees many of our hats and fascinators gracing the heads of those who take a trip to Ascot Racecourse over the five-day, world-class meeting.

If you plan to go, and you haven’t yet sorted your headwear, do come to us… and, if possible, please bring your outfit with you, as seeing the whole ensemble together really helps to ensure the best possible overall picture. We have a multitude of elegant, glamorous hats and fascinators for ladies in many different styles and colours, with size adjustability built into some, along with smart top hats and Panamas for the gents.

The back room on the ladies’ side can convert into a changing area if required, and the passageway between the two sides of the shop is lined with mirrors, to view – weather permitting – your choices in natural daylight.

There’s almost too many hats! (Not really…)

𝗜𝗧'𝗦 𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗕𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗬𝗧𝗨𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗟!

It might seem strange to be showing you 𝗨𝗠𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗦 in this heatwave, but The Guvnor had a stroke of genius and lined the passageway between the two sides of the shop with examples of our boutique umbrellas, and it’s created a very welcome oasis of shade.

Not only that, but some of our brollies double up as 𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗔𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗦, with a UPF50+ sunblock coating on the underside (you can see the black lining in the photo, and the deep shadows underneath). These – in polka dot or fleur de lys designs – are the ideal accessory for our British summers, when you (usually) never know whether to expect rain or sun!

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗻(𝗵𝗮𝘁)!

After a bit of a damp May so far, summer is – finally – coming in with a bang this weekend. So it’s a good job we’ve taken delivery of lots more 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦!

The hats (and caps) in this consignment are all rated UPF50+, ie total sunblock, with many also being crushable or at least foldable, making them ideal for travelling. In either fabric or paper/poly, and a range of sizes, designs and colours, you’ll have plenty of choice for your stylish sun protection.

And, like our other hats, these are for ladies, gents and in-between!

What’s likely to be the last major delivery of 𝗙𝗔𝗦𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗦 this season has lately landed at our little emporium.

From the small and special (witness the box of feathery clips) to the lusciously large (as modelled here by the Snookettes), we have fascinators in a wide variety of shapes and proportions, with a range of colours including some new mixes and hues, like this sizzling orange and white creation and the sophisticated petrol number to the front of the counter.

Don’t forget, if you’re trying to pair headwear with a particular outfit, bring the outfit with you – dress/trousers, jacket, shoes and all – as it’s impossible to hold colours in one’s head (and they don’t show true on a phone either), plus seeing the whole ensemble together really helps to get the balance right.

Little or large, if it’s on a clip, comb or band, it’s a fascinator… and they’re all fabulous!

With the upcoming Dorset Art Weeks now an annual event, you’ll see our ‘𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗥𝗧‘ window (this being our third?) on a more regular basis… starting right here!

This year’s DAW runs 23 May to 7 June, featuring artists showing in almost 300 venues across the county.

Here at T Snook we celebrate the event by showcasing various hats (or their nearest equivalent) that feature in works of art from hundreds of years ago right through to modern day, with paintings of subjects as diverse as past luminaries by old masters to a couple of portraits of more ‘local legends’ who you might recognise (one very close to home)… and we even match the theme in our brollies!

So, how many can you guess?

Last week saw The Guvnor halfway up a stepladder, to pin up our new consignment of 𝗙𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗙𝗔𝗡 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦!

These versatile little beauties open right out, as you see in the pics, or fold right down so they fit in your bag… or are easily posted as a gift. Or you can go midway and actually use them as a fan (as we usefully found last time they were in and it was baking hot).

With twelve different colours, you have a choice… or could even get several! (😉)

With warm spring sunshine brightening our days, our heads need protection from the UV rays (oh we do love a bit of rhyming).

To that end, our collection of (mainly gents') 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦 has been not just replenished, but enlarged... quite literally in the case of this giant-brimmed straw hat (this one's clearly aimed at the ladies, so that's not The Guvnor hiding under there, honest). Elegant enough for a wedding or race meeting, this stylish hat is so huge there'll be no need for a parasol (though we do those, too), and with a statement this big you'll be the talk of the garden party.

Most of these just-in designs are either straw or look like it ('toyo' is actually paper, but pretends very well.)

We've also had some more genuine 𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗠𝗔 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗦 arrive – both ladies' and gents' styles (and some that work for all) – so, for those looking for something a little more up-market, we cater to your tastes!

If high-level sun protection is your priority remember to look for the UPF50+ label – it means near-total sunblock. Our sunhats come in rigid or flexible, sometimes even crushable designs, with Panamas mostly rigid (you definitely don't want to crush these...). There are many sunhat varieties in the ladies section, as well, plus fabric options for all. So much choice for the sunshine!
