Dawson Denim Selvedge denim experts, Made in Japan. Since 2012 we have worked towards building a collection of denim workwear using traditional techniques and integrity.

Dawson Denim is Kelly Dawson and Scott Ogden, from our specialist workshop in Brighton on the South Coast of England the two of us design, cut and sew each product ourselves. Inspired by the past but with improvements for modern living. Our collection is functional and understated, designed with personal attention to detail. Each piece comes with a “log book” inspired by the same document from the

golden age of motoring. The ideal of being built to last has long been forgotten but we are proud to be able to offer a durability guarantee with each of our products. This log book entitles the owner to a service in the first six months when any wear and tear created in this time will be repaired by hand here in the workshop. This service in no way affects the owner’s statutory rights. We use Selvedge Denim woven in Okayama, Japan; still woven on original 1920’s Toyoda and Imamura looms from 1910. Crafted in Okayama, Japan, the Dawson Type II Trucker Jacket stays true to the original 1953 design, featuring two chest pockets with buttoned flaps, a pleated front, and adjustable back cinch tabs for a classic fit. The jacket is cut from white-line selvedge denim, woven from organic cotton and plant-dyed indigo, faithfully reproducing the look and feel of 1950s denim.

Through a precise washing and hand-finishing process, this edition mirrors the natural evolution of raw denim, capturing vintage-style fades, high-contrast whiskering, and soft patinaed tones. The result is a jacket that looks like an old favourite from day one—without sacrificing the durability and longevity of raw selvedge.

Produced in strictly limited numbers, each jacket is expertly sewn on mid-century industrial machines, aged with care, and checked in our East Sussex workshop before shipping.

A timeless classic, reimagined in its purest form. The Dawson Type II Trucker Jacket in Raw Ecru offers a fresh take on the iconic 1953 design, crafted from a robust red-line selvedge denim that showcases the beauty of undyed organic cotton.

Made in Okayama, Japan, this edition stays true to the original Type II silhouette, featuring two chest pockets with buttoned flaps, a pleated front, and adjustable back cinch tabs for a tailored fit. The raw ecru selvedge fabric is woven on traditional shuttle looms, delivering a structured yet breathable feel that softens and moulds to the wearer over time.

Without indigo dye, this natural cotton denim allows the texture and character of the fabric to shine, developing a unique patina through wear. Finished with vintage-inspired stitching, selvedge details, and period-correct construction, this jacket is built to last for years to come.

Produced in strictly limited numbers, each piece is sewn on mid-century industrial machines before being checked and shipped from our East Sussex workshop.

Inspired by a naturally faded pair of Dawson Denim jeans worn for three years, this edition has been meticulously aged by our specialist laundry in Japan, capturing every nuance of authentic wear. From the soft whiskering and high-contrast fades to the subtle roping along the hems, this denim tells a story from the moment you put it on.

Our Standard Fit takes cues from 1950s and early 1960s denim, offering a relaxed silhouette with more ease through the thigh for all-day comfort. Designed with a lower front rise and a slightly higher back rise, this fit provides a classic yet effortless shape.

Now crafted by our partners in Japan, these jeans are made from 14.25oz Organic Cotton Selvedge denim, woven in Okayama on traditional Toyoda shuttle looms. The meticulous aging process recreates the depth and texture of a well-worn favourite while maintaining the durability and structure expected from premium selvedge denim.

Each pair is sewn with our signature stone thread and features the distinctive Dawson Arcuate embroidery on the back pockets. Finished with branded trims, including Dawson-branded buttons and rivet, and our undyed leather patch, these jeans combine authenticity with timeless craftsmanship. The fully felled inseams and chain-stitched hems, completed on vintage Union Special machines, ensure a precise and lasting construction.

Once complete, every pair is inspected at our workshop in Britain before being shipped to its new owner.

A timeworn classic—expertly aged for a lived-in look, built to last for years to come.
