I made myself a smock for my birthday. It's been a long time I haven't made sth for . It'a a kind of large overall in upcycled linen (from upholstery). I need a public vote here, as I am unable to choose the best buttons!?!
.. My issue being, I love LOTS of them, narrowing down to 3 was already the challenge πŸ˜…

Embracing the magic of Ostara 🌸✨ After a year of introspection and healing during my sabbatical, I'm emerging with a renewed perspective on creativity and life. Like the egg symbolizing rebirth, this weekend marks a new chapter where I approach my passions in a fresh, vibrant light. Here's to embracing growth and the endless possibilities ahead!

High summer vibes here!!

hoping you're well hydrated. But for sleeping better we strongly suggest a warm shower, followed by linen bedding.

Linen cushion covers are cooling, for bed of sofas. The last pieces in each Balky design are found on the website, link in bio.

It's been a very tough week, even though we got the half-term break, I feel heavy and frustrated. I was avoiding the news, as the situation terrifies me.

Hope you donn't mind me talking about such a heavy topic. Even though I am not directly related to Ukraine, I feel deeply for those people. We do have shared culture, some folk clothing aesthetic and heritage.

As my final MA work (the Balky Collection) served me as a kind of catharsis of my own trauma of the last Balkan war, I feel we're falling into it again...

I don't know about you, but I feel so powerless. What can we collectively do?!
First: get informed from different sources - possibly independent and from site of crisis;
Second: help people in need, as directly as possible (same as above);
Third: check if you're unconsciously contributing to war through your bank/pension/investments/energy providers etc. (people don't even know where their money goes!). And share your opinion with decision-makers of those institutions. Our collective money do matter!

I've decided to support humanitarian actions on the front line. So, for the month of March, Perosa Design will be donating 50% of profits to charity.
(I'm choosing the right one, please, share your advise. Will update on that.)

And hopefully, something radical will stop the situation in a month's time...

Thank you for reading.

A long-delayed feature post of a lady that I respect and now absolutely adore: edelkoort!
She's a trend hunter and forecaster, lead of design schools, forums, humanitarian... (I mean, there is simply no space to describe her rich career in design and fashion in a single IG post!)

During the pandemic, she started a series of online events with ... called . Those webinars leave me in awe EACH and EVERY TIME. They truly live up to its name: World+Hope+Forum. In the time when all we need is hope, open hearts and sustainable design for a better future! I'm so deeply grateful to all organisers + the speakers for sharing this with us, for free in a world of subscriptions.
A-ma-zing!

You should join and make space on your calendars for the next one...

Thank you all,
x

Sewing tip of the day:

When one works with linen and its beautiful liveliness, that can be irritating as well. So how do you cut a straight line into a fabric that's moving?

You can use the direction of the fibres: the weft and warp. If you pinch the side and pick a thread, you'll be able to pull it through gently. Here you are, got a straight line in moving material! You have it for cutting straight or sewing a straight line.

Have a nice evening all
and let me know if sewing tips help you!

Hello, my lovelies,
the Sun is officially back!

And Happy Lunar New Year of the Tiger, if you're celebrating.
I thought that something red was appropriate for the occasion. So, today I'm present you all the versions of the linen tie or: the only necktie ! Made in 100% linen.

As previously mentioned, I spent the month of November learning and perfecting the handmade tie. Is a laborious product as it is mainly hand stitched.
(and I do ) The fabrics are part of my Balky collection of linen jacquards, 100% European flax, available in other shapes of handmade accessories. Website in bio.

I'm still doing my research, but I can say that Perosa Design linen tie is probably the only tie made in Bristol
Please, do correct me, if I'm wrong!

Speak soon,
Mateja

Hello lovely people!

Hope the week treated you well and you're heading into your winter weekend. Possibly weekend hibernation. Or, depending on where you're living, something more active.

Can I have a request tonight? Would you help me spread the word about my January sale, please?
How? By sharing my IG Stories during the weekend, with people that might be interested in linen.
The discount is already added to the products on my website, link in bio.

My reasons for hurrying are the following:

- clearing the last stock (3/4/6 pieces available)
- making space for my new linen (hurray!)
- joining a business coaching programme
(which I haven't budgeted for - just met her a few days ago!!!!)

Ole! It is said. Hope this is not too cheesy...
Know your help will be very, very, very, VERY appreciated, in this life - and all the following ones... Thank you.

Have a gorgeous weekend! Love, Mateja

Hiya, how are you, people?

Wintery, but with a hint of spring appearing. I could see daffodil buds coming through the ground today!

I wanted to share why I've been to Somerton yesterday: only to visit the red dress exhibition! πŸŽ‰ I'm sure most of you are familiar with it, as it's been in Bristol and ...all around the world!

This is a dress that has been embroidered by 264 women, across 29 countries, over 12 years. I absolutely love Kirstie's project, it speaks to me deeply - so much that I was crying during the projection...

"The Red Dress Project, conceived by British artist Kirstie Macleod, provides an artistic platform for women around the world, many of whom are marginalized and live in poverty, to tell their personal stories through embroidery."
https://reddressembroidery.com/

I'm planning a blog post about it... And will keep you posted!
Take care, x
