When one warp ends, another begins!

Just getting ready to start a little warp for a wholesale order then I’ve got some space to play with some ideas I’ve got buzzing around my head for some new designs, making use of some of my yarn remnants and learning some new skills!

Things are slower as I now share my time between my employed job, family and home life as well as the business, but I’m very much still here and making! ✨

Just a little bit of life lately!

Loving my work, both employed and self employed, making the most of the windows of time I have with the girls, keeping up with the home baking, trying to worry less about the housework!! Watching our little lambs from the window and just generally trying to appreciate the little things while life is so busy!

Last year we started our very own flock - a very small start with just two ewes who live in with our neighbours little flock. 🐑

Today my partner had his first shearing experience, and so I am beginning my first experience processing the fleeces. I am no spinner, I have had a couple of try’s which were not particularly successful 😅

So to begin with I’m not putting too much pressure on myself, I just want to play and experiment, using the fleeces, loosely spun, to add some texture and interest to my work.

I’m really excited to start playing with my very own, home grown British wool from Bramble & Damson! 💕

✨Back to our normal routine of nursery and work today, so it felt like the perfect time to reflect on a lovely weekend at .life Makers market!

I don’t do many markets anymore, especially at this time of year (too many people dismiss my products as soon as they see the word ‘wool’ as soon as spring hits! 🙄) partly because they had become more difficult to enjoy, to be honest! But this weekend was the total opposite of that - calm, friendly, welcoming, honestly a complete and utter joy to be a part of!

Beautiful location, wonderful company, delicious food and even a few sales to add the cherry on top!!

Thank you to every single person who made this weekend what it was, my cup is feeling very full this week! 💕

✨ New Workshop ✨

Rewoven - making something beautiful form waste materials!

I ran this course for the first time yesterday afternoon and, I think you’ll agree, the results were beautiful!
None of them had ever woven before and they all did a fantastic job and loved it so much they plan to carry on at home!

I am running this course at @ The Artistry in Shepton Mallet on the evening of Friday 24th April - I’d love for you to join!!

To book just send me a message or email me on: [email protected]

✨From what remains, Part II is now live. ✨

(And slightly later than planned… turns out measuring and listing five scarves takes longer than you think.)

This small collection of handwoven scarves has been created entirely from what already existed in the studio. Leftover yarns, colours from leftover dye, and materials waiting to find their place.

Each one is different. Shaped by the materials, not repeatable.

There are just five available.

You can explore them here: https://fruitbattextiles.co.uk/collections/headwear

Thank you for your patience, and for supporting slow, considered making.

✨Before there is yarn on a loom, there is landscape.

Winter hedgerows.
Muted fields.
The quiet shift between seasons.

I don’t follow trends.
I pay attention to what’s around me.

Cloth should feel rooted.
Grounded.
Like it belongs somewhere.

That’s what I’m always trying to weave.
